General Comments:

I was very skeptical at first when I was reviewing this car. I read about hybrids being slow (like who buys a hybrid to go fast anyway?). People were worried about the hybrid battery going; even I was scared (I have seen Prius's with over 300,000km without ever changing the battery). I have somewhat high miles & everything seems to be running perfect. I do my regular maintenance & mostly drive on the highway.

Fear not & enjoy the CT200H :)

I have been trying to figure out if I can purchase this car used with 100K+ miles for mainly highway trips and still expect some life out of it and it be reliable. Thank you so much for reporting exactly what I needed to know for my particular use case.

Faults:

This is a a review for a 2014 Lexus CT200h F-Sport Bright White

Driver's door sounds misaligned.

Clunk from front driver's side suspension and/or brake.

Annoying reverse beeping noise.

All three scheduled for a service visit at the local Lexus dealer.

Nothing has gone wrong with the car. In fact the car has performed flawlessly for the first month of new ownership. I am hitting 44 MPG in town and 39 on the highway going 80 with the A/C on. The seats are comfortable whereas the Honda's left me with a back ache. The seat heaters work way better than the Honda's too. Well, actually everything this Lexus does is better than that Honda!

General Comments:

I love the looks of the little hatch. Most people don't even know what it is LOL. I get asked all the time "is that thing fast?" I say "it's fast in a hybrid kind of way."

The F-Sport suspension is more harsh than the non F-Sport models, so take that into consideration if you want to buy one. I personally love the looks of the F-sport so I compromised on the suspension and didn't care, but I would rather have a cush ride honestly. The stereo (10 speaker) sounds good, easy to hook up my iPhone6+ and the Bluetooth was just as easy. Controls are laid out well and I learned the infotainment system within a few days.

One thing I am not used to is seeing the gas gauge go down so fast. I mean I got 330 miles until it went all the way to E on like 8.2 gallons of gas, but I am not used to "filling up" on 8.2 gallons. I am used to a 22 gallon LS400 tank going 330 miles LOL. Nothing to quibble about; just getting used to it.

It has some utility, but the back is small. For those who are afraid of purchasing a hybrid because most people who review them complain about how slow they are, Do Not Worry, these aren't all that slow... It's like driving a pumped up Corolla, but it's just as fast (slow) as one. I don't know how to explain it. The electric power comes in quick and gives a torque boost while the engine spins up. It's quite flawless and quiet unless you floor it... And why would you buy a hybrid only to floor it?

Honestly, I'm becoming one of those annoying Prius drivers who drives slower to eek out more MPG. I used to be one of those annoying lead foot and hard brake people with horrible pulsing brakes, so a Hybrid might just slow you down; it did me.

Overall, I was worried about going from a 270HP V6 to a 134HP hybrid, but I really love this thing. And I always have my Lexus 1999 LS400 V8 for power when I feel the thirst!
