1991 Renault Alpine A610 Turbo 3.0 V6 turbo from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Bloody Awesome

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

Wow!!! Bright yellow supercar. Goes like stink. Looks awesome, handles like you would not believe. People just stop, stare and thank the lord that somebody owns a car like this in this boring world! They usually wonder what the hell it is too. Only 40 in this country makes it rarer than Ferrari's, Lambo's and the almost common Aston Martin's. I absolutely love it having wanted one since I saw it in the motor show in 1992.

Negatives...there are a few! The window wipers are useless. The air con is poor, the build quality is French. Everything is eccentric. Door handles in the floor, handbrake is like NO other handbrake I've ever seen before. Finding someone to service it isn't easy.

But take nothing away. This is one awesome car. There is nothing else I would rather have right now. Just fantastic. :-)

1987 Renault Alpine GTA V6 2.8 atm from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Fantastic car, just get one before they become a real classic

Faults:

Blown coolant hose radiator feed due to hardening rubber component / ageing.

Left hand window electric opener mechanism seized.

Fuel level transmitter failure.

General Comments:

Great sports car with real racing pedigree. A very underrated car.

Some times overlooked at intersections due to low profile.

As name implies car handles well on winding alpine roads with a ton of torque coming out of corners.

Good weight distribution when fuel tank is in excess of 75%

Not a cheap car to maintain with parts getting rare and ridicules expensive.

1989 Renault Alpine GTA 2.5 V6 turbo petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Alternator, turbo, clutch slave cylinder, coolant hoses.

General Comments:

Fun to drive (though care must be taken in the wet) cheap to buy (though not necessarily to run) performance car. Getting hold of tyres for the standard wheels is a problem.

Have owned one for the last 3 years, great performance, looks etc.

Problem is finding a good car that has been professionally looked after. Prices are beginning to rise, but the number of cars in the UK is limited to only about 350.

A classic 80-90s styles supercar for the future, the problem is looking after them. Too many bad garages that will try to service them, fail and charge a lot of money.
