1978 Ford Fairlane 500 500 c.i. V8
Summary:
Reliable battle-tank
Faults:
The car leaked massive amounts of oil through its rear o-ring, since the crankshaft was bent and off-centered.
The heater never worked, and most of the lights in the dashboard were blown.
The fuel gauge never worked, and the driver's side door was out of jamb, and never quite locked.
Exhaust pipe fell off after owning the car for a few months.
General Comments:
An excellent, comfortable, reliable, tough-as-nails huge American clunker. It was noisy, big, but incredibly comfortable, and had a ride that was well above par anything else cruising the streets of Argentina in the 70's - 80's.
No rust, no electrical problems, no serious engine problems whatsoever, despite disastrous g-ring oil leak, which claimed about 5 quarts of oil for every hour of driving.
Insane muscle-car aspect!!
