2001 Alfa Romeo 156 Selespeed 1.6 Twin Spark

Summary:

Sensational..

Faults:

Only problem which occurred on one drive was that when shifting gears up in either city or manual mode, the car would not go into 4th gear, but rather skip the fourth gear when either up shifting or downshifting. It jumps from 3rd to 5th and vice versa.

Apart from that only problem which occurred once so far since I bought the car, nothing else has happened.

General Comments:

Everything is awesome with the car, it has the best performance in all the cars I have driven, the best handling, awesome comfort and drive.

I would always buy and keep my Alfa and any other Alfa, because it is just so awesome... Only thing I would just make sure the gearbox is working good...

It also has real good fuel consumption and goes as hard as a Ferrari...

I thought that selespeed was an option only on the 2.0 Twin Spark engine...

2001 Alfa Romeo 156

Faults:

3 of the 4 master bearing went and engine has to be replaced.

General Comments:

I was advised by Alfa that they will not replace the engine. I was told that the car at some point was low on oil. I have also done some research and discovered that I am not the only one to have had this problem. If you have had similiar problems, please email me ltberks@yahoo.com.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

The twin spark engines can effectively consume up to 600 ml of oil per 1000km. That depends upon the way you drive (higher rpms - higher consumption) The (well- respected in Europe) "Autobild" magazine had a long term test 147 2.0 TS which consumed 19 ltrs of oil in 100000 kms. As always, check your oil level every 1000-2000 kms.
