2007 Citroen C4 VTR 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Fantastic

Faults:

So far a great car; had no problems with it yet.

General Comments:

My Citroen C4 VTR Coupe has been driven from Sydney to Queensland 5 times, and also driven to South Australia twice. It was a fantastic drive either way.

I've also driven on the Bathurst racing track, I did achieve a top speed of 202km/h on the track. The car handles great around the bends.

Very comfortable ride, especially over long distances.

Interior has a great ambient feel about it, and I love the way the digital instrumentation is set out on the dashboard.

This the 3rd year I have owned this car. Waiting for the new C4 to be launched in 2012, which is still a concept car. Looking forward buying the new C4 when it is launched in AUSTRALIA 2012.

Citroen, keep up the good work.

2006 Citroen C4 VTS coupe 2 litre

Summary:

Unique and refreshing

Faults:

The only little problem I have had is that the hatch sticks closed, it's due for a service so it will get a easy adjustment then.

General Comments:

It has a very tall first gear ratio so my girlfriend really rides the clutch when shes driving. Handles superbly on smooth roads, but experiences pronounced steering kickback on rough roads. Very good heat/cool air conditioning. Lights like no other car I have ever driven, amazing!

For the price I feel that it is more than competitive with its rivals.

Perhaps citroen will pull its image back together with these new models.

I think that the C4 is definitely value for money in comparison with its rivals. There are not many cars that give you as much for your money as the C4, and that goes from the entry model to the VTS. Also, has anyone thought of or had their diesel C4 remapped. If so, details please.

The harsh ride can be down to a few things; either the wheels, if you have the 17" ones, or the known issue of rear suspension bushes and occasionally damper failure. It's a known issue that Citroen should be able to fix for you under warranty. But if you have the VTS, a rough ride is expected due to the stiffer suspension.

And on the remap, I know people who have had it done. The UK forum is over at http://c4owners.co.uk/

You can speak to owners who have had problems and had remaps etc done. We can also offer discounts to people who join up and pay the £10 fee, ranging from 20% off a remap, so about a £45 discount.

Also discounts on official Citroen items. A coupe spoiler for £130 for example, instead of the usually near £200. All supplied by a Citroen dealer; you can even pick them up from them. Just what we take in members fees goes towards helping you guys (the owners) out. Best way to get advice about any problems with a car, is to speak to a collective group about it, who have suffered from the problems before, and have an idea of how to fix it.

I have experienced many problems with my C4, although I liked it very much.

My first problem was a leak in the gear box.

When removing the engine, they found a defect in the water pump.

Many fault messages: speed control faulty, pollution faulty, engine control faulty.

Finally I finish with a bearing in the rear wheel.

Besides that, water is coming out from the AC near my legs.

If anyone experienced the same problems, please do not hesitate to contact me.

My car has done 38400 KM.

2005 Citroen C4 VTR Coupe 1.6 Unleaded

Summary:

Beautiful!!!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong. Love this car.

General Comments:

I bought this car after a lot of Internet research on car reviews and deals. The reviews upon this site (http://www.carsurvey.org) actually convinced my wife and I to buy a C4.

Looks: She stands out from the crowd that's for sure. We bought a Oriental Blue C4 Coupe with a glass roof. All windows had tinting for the Australian Sun. This car turns heads, that's for sure.

Interior: The interior is so comfortable, people comment upon the seats just looking at them, you don't slide around when driving in this car. The instrument panel on the steering wheel not moving didn't bother me one bit; I hardly noticed as most of the time I have my eyes on the road :-)

Driving: Handles real well on the road. Great turning ability, quick to take off when needed. The dashboard in the centre of the car is a real bonus and makes it easy to see your speed and information. This car does everything for you! At 10Khm the car locks the doors automatically. Even though I got the VTR, I have automatic windscreen wipers depending upon the intensity of the rain. Automatic headlights switch on when needed (this is a headlight setting). Back windscreen wiper operates automatically when reversing in the rain. She tells me when how much weight is in the car so I can dip the headlights. There's heaps more. :-D.

Features: Compared to all of the other cars we reviewed through dealers online, the Citroen C4 provides much more options as 'standard' over other car manufacturers. You get more for paying less. In Australia, where the consumer is basically ripped off over everything, this was a BIG PLUS for Citroen.

Glass roof and Australian Sun: We had some debate upon this option and went for it. The glass roof comes with shutters (blinds) that can be pulled from back and front to stop the sun coming in. What I discovered was that a glass roof does not hold the heat like a metal roof, and the car is actually cooler inside when parked with the shutters pulled across, unlike our old Mazda. If you are considering buying the glass roof option, and are not sure because you live in a hot climate, I can assure you that you will not regret it, as your car will not be any hotter inside (with shutters pulled across) than any other car, and you may experience a cooler interior like we did. Plus it is great to drive with the sky above your head.

Getting your dream car in Australia: When we decided upon the colour and options we wanted for our C4, we rang a few dealers within our area. One dealer tried to sell us what we didn't want, and told us we couldn't get the car we wanted within Australia. The other dealer was much better at customer service, searched their databases for us, and told us they couldn't find the car we wanted, and we could order one. My wife got disheartened, but we wrote directly to the importer in Sydney Australia, they got back to us in 30 minutes with the exact car we wanted at another dealer in our state, so we rang and ordered it. Moral of the story is... If you can not find exactly what you want, email the head office who's email address is on the www.Citroen.com.au website, as they have a database listing ALL of the cars imported, and they can probably find exactly what you need, plus they are not out to make a quick sale for a particular dealer, just a sale anywhere. :-)

I highly recommend the Citroen C4 to anyone wanting a stylish, well programmed, zippy, roomy car with panache.

Love this car!!!

A close friend of mine recently purchased a Citroen C4 and I can't believe how much you get for your money. Compared to most other vehicles, the C4 is brilliant.

I heard a commercial on the radio last week advertising a car with 'front power windows as standard'. I just chuckled at the thought of such basic feature being highlighted as a major selling point - especially when comparing it to this Citroen, which is in the same price and size category as the car in the commercial.

Glad to hear you got what you wanted...it's good that so few people know about these little gems because it makes yours all the more exclusive.

2005 Citroen C4 1.6 SX sedan 1.6 petrol

Summary:

Great design, charming, characterful and fun to drive

Faults:

One rattle noted on test drive, fixed on delivery.

General Comments:

Design: The exterior is nicely balanced and full of clever detail, it looks thoroughly modern yet pretty. The interior is delightfully innovative and loaded with truly practical features. It's a fresh and pleasant environment in which to travel.

Drivetrain: The 1.6 petrol has plenty of torque from 2000rpm. Although not that fast, its smooth, responsive power delivery makes it an easy drive. The engine note is pleasant as its extended, only getting a little harsh above 5500rpm. The clutch is light, smooth and the take-up point ideal. The gearbox is positive and slick, and the gearing well matched to the engine.

Comfort: Along with decent engine refinement, wind and road noise are mostly well suppressed - coarse surfaces do cause some rumble, but in its class only the Golf seemed quieter. Seat comfort and ergonomics are very good and the driving position is widely adjustable for all shapes and sizes.

Driving: The steering is sharp, full of feel and accurate. Handling is excellent - eager turn in, neutral balance and only very mild understeer near the limit. Dips and lumps mid-corner are dispensed with comfortably and with no excess body movement. Only badly broken surfaces and sharp ridges cause some bump harshness and suspension noise. The brakes are superb. Its taughter than French cars of old, but still absorbent.

Best features: Interior design, equipment, handling, brakes and safety.

Not so sure: Seat fabric, small bump absorption.

2005 Citroen C4 VTR 1.6

Summary:

Beautiful

Faults:

Nothing!

General Comments:

Not so happy with the engine/gearbox combination - the 1.6 would be much better with a manual box, or the auto box would be much better with a 2 litre engine.

Pleasantly surprised with the handling and ride. sticks well.
