1995 Ford Fairmont 4.0 inline 6 cylinder
Summary:
One of the best Fords I've ever owned
Faults:
Voltage regulator on alternator stopped working, causing everything to overcharge and cut out. Replaced the alternator for $60.
Drive belt snapped. $26 to replace.
General Comments:
This is the 2nd of this generation Ford I've owned, and I quite like it for its comfort and equipment levels.
Although I find the engine to be underpowered in some instances, it will still outperform a lot of vehicles while towing a fully loaded trailer.
This particular model handles funny, sort of like it was on a pivot in the middle of the road. Very easy to lose rear wheel traction, and some cases of understeer in wet conditions without the right tyres on the car.
I find it to be an ample family car, although the boot space has much to be desired being a sedan.
Climate control is excellent to have on board, but the air conditioning doesn't get as cold as Holdens or some Japanese makes. On extremely hot days you have to take it off auto mode, close the vent and crank the fan right up.
Overall I would purchase another Ford in the future as they are built for Australian conditions. If you're looking for a car to tow with, then this is the one.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Sounds like you never serviced it properly mate. Try having an Alfa, and you'll spend more than 2k a year to maintain it. I have the same Ford, and it only costs me about 800 a year with minor faults, but I fix everything ASAP.
