Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with it yet, I only just bought it a few days ago, but it had a few problems I've fixed.

The guy that owned it before had cranked the idle speed up way too high, and it had a crappy sports steering wheel which I replaced with the original.

There's many other small things to mention.

General Comments:

After my last car, a '69 Beetle, this car is pure luxury.

It was originally a cop car for the Hobart police.

The interior is in very good condition, no cracks in the dash. the motor starts and runs like a dream, but the transmission is starting to play up a little, it take a second or so to engage drive when changing from reverse.

The body is fairly good, but showing rust around the corners of the panels, I'm getting that cut out ASAP.

The motor is quite lazy, but its not too bad. could do with a bit more power, but I don't want to make it even more thirsty.

Faults:

Warped inlet manifold (big problem with these vehicles).

Premature rusting in exhaust

Seized alternator and universal joint bearings

Body rust around doors, guards and tailgate.

Carburettor difficult to tune correctly

Overheating when standing too long in traffic (V8 Radiator cured this)

General Comments:

Very solidly built vehicle. This vehicle has been kept in almost stock condition over its life.

Not as refined or well made as a European or Japanese vehicle, but very good value for money, and extremely simple and cheap to maintain.

Given its age, good parts are becoming more difficult to obtain.

Even though routine maintenance for this type of vehicle is cheap and easy, it requires frequent maintenance - certainly more than a modern vehicle.

Its fuel consumption can be rather high, especially in city use.

Faults:

The only thing wrong was the rust which started to occur in the tailgate, which was a common defect. But was easily fixed with good old bog and paint.

The only other thing was the carpet. But hey that's no big problem.

General Comments:

This is a excellent car.

Very reliable.

Very good for sound systems because it's a wagon.

Looks great...unique.

Faults:

When we put the engine in, there was quite a bit of trouble getting everything to fit, but that was expected. Then there was problems with the diff. not really handling the torque, which was also expected... and getting it certified proved to be a bit of a problem, but everything is OK now.

General Comments:

Well, the engine (a 5.7 out of a VT GTS if you have forgotten) was taken out of a written off GTS, we also took the transmission, and finally the diff. after the problems with the old one.

We have added forged pistons, a Crane Cam, K and N filter, a 2 3/4 inch exhaust with 3 inch tip, Port and Polish, Carbon Drive-shaft, lightweight Flywheel, Triple Plate Clutch, Bigger Valves, Roller Rockers, Hella Fog Lights, car is now approx. 240kw.

15 inch Crager Wheels, orange/red/yellow mixed paint, Tinted Windows, Lowered on Nolathene Shocks and King Springs, White Line Sway Bars.

VT Calais Leather Seats (front and rear), custom woodgrain dash and steering wheel, AutoMeter gauges, aqua neon glow.

VDO Single disk head unit, VDO 6 stack MD stacker, 2x 120w front, 2x 60w tweeters front, 2x 120w rear, 2x 60w tweeters rear, 2x 6x9 4 way rear, all Pioneer, + 2x 200w Fusion Subs, and a 1000w Rockford Fosgate Amp., and a Fusion Alarm.

Faults:

Carpet is all torn and ripped up, but will be fine for the next couple of months.

Some surface rust in the corners of the body and in the inside of the boot.

The dash has a couple of cracks in it.

The carby is leaking a little bit of petrol.

It also has a couple of small dents that you can only see when the sun is in the right place.

Has some small scratches in the paint from being Keyed.

There's nothing really bad that has happened to the car.

General Comments:

It has enough power for my first car, and its pretty reliable.

Very comfy, I love cars with lots of room.

Old Holdens rule they look way better than the little pissy Japenese cars and they go better than them as well.

Holdens rule and Fords suck, the only Ford that slightly compares to Holdens are the old Ford GT's.
