1975 Holden Utility HJ 253 V8
Summary:
Bewdy Mate!

Rust in the rear guards.
Door hinge pins worn.
Motor badly worn (blowing blue smoke).
Diff stuffed.
Changing gears was like stirring an old rice pudding.
General Comments:
I bought the old girl; she was a white 179, 3 speed st-ocker.
Soon after it was matt black, 253 V8, Aussie four speed, 10-Bolt twin spinner, wagon rear bumper, bucket seats, roll bar and bull bar.
This rig was unreal; when I first started driving it, you would have to use your arm to grip the window sill or else you would slide across the old bench seat!
It stood up to the rigours of the Aussie BnS ball scene, and that is a testament to the great engineering and design dept that Holden had. Truly a vehicle built for Aussie conditions.
They don't make em like that anymore.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
