2009 Honda Jazz GLi 1.3 litre petrol
Summary:
A roomy small car with economy and comfort in mind
Faults:
Nothing.
General Comments:
I love my Jazz. For a small car it is HUGE. The interior feels roomy and passengers always comment on how surprised they are about this.
The exterior also looks big, although it's easy to fit into any car parking space. The only issue there is that being a shorty, I have trouble washing and chamising the roof.
I'm the sort of person who is really into nifty interior features, so the fold up/ fold down rear seats were what originally sold me on this car. My kids laughed at the ten cup holders though, because they know I won't let them eat or drink in my prize possession, and really - how many cup holders do you need?
Unlike a review I read from the UK - the Australian Jazz has a full size spare wheel. I did have a bit of adjustment to begin with, getting use to the short bonnet after driving a Camry, but it didn't take me long to get used to it. I have taken the car on a couple of interstate stints and it handled well.
I work for an organisation where we use a pool of new cars, so I have the opportunity to try out most new small cars. The Jazz compares very favourably. I did my research and my choice came down to the Jazz or a Hyundai i30. I have also driven a Toyota Prius at work, and the Jazz has a very similar feeling from the drivers seat. The Prius is what I would probably have bought, but it was out of my price range. However now
I would definitely buy another Jazz.
I bought a manual so that I kept up my driving skills - you never know when you'll need to drive a manual in an emergency. It is on cheap on fuel. The five speed box changes smoothly. The only thing that annoys me is the beeping when I start the car before doing up my seat belt - I like to reverse out of my garage without the seat belt on. Maybe they should make it so that the beeper only comes on if you are moving forward without your belt on.
Overall - I love it, I love it, I love it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
