1995 Hyundai Scoupe LS 1.5 Litre SOHC Alpha

Summary:

If it's got an Alpha or Beta motor, it will last forever!

Faults:

So far...

I've killed 4 batteries due to my own stupidity.

Otherwise, nothing at all.

General Comments:

I bought this little Hyundai with the intention of keeping it for the rest of its life and running it into the ground. I didn't really know much about Hyundai when I bought my car, but since then my son has bought an XD Elantra and an X3 Excel. He was heavily influenced to buy the two Hyundai's because he has been extremely impressed with my modest little Scoupe.

While the car isn't anything exciting, it is a solid little car that just won't let you down if you look after it.

To this day it has not had a problem and continues to start first go, even if I haven't driven it for a while.

I don't know what else to really say about my little Hyundai, except that it has been a real pleasure to own and I take pride in looking after it.

1993 Hyundai Scoupe LS 1.5L EFI

Summary:

An excellent car - especially for a 1st car

Faults:

-Bad wind vibration coming from both the windows

-Sun damage to the dash (got a dash mat now)

-Crackling front and back speakers (replaced)

-Paint is faded on the spoiler

-Paint has cracked on the front bumper (planning a full paint job soon)

-Burnt out clutch (replaced)

-Window tint has bubbles.

General Comments:

Overall it is an excellent car. I got it for $3,500AU and I feel it is worth twice that amount. It goes like a rocket and has exceptional fuel consumption rates. I had to upgrade the sound system, but I would gladly get another. They are sporty looking, fast and economical.

1990 Hyundai Scoupe LS 1.5

Summary:

A high maintenance, low performance, high economical, cheap car

Faults:

Had to get my torque converter rebuilt.

Worn ball bearings in engine.

Leaking a lot of engine oil.

Seat belts wear a lot.

Seals on the door and around windscreen are starting to decay.

Bonnet will no longer open.

Fan is starting to run off centre and cause a lot of noise.

The engine ratios are all out of whack.

General Comments:

I suggest you get a manual, there is too much trouble with the automatic. For example, the torque converters ALWAYS breakdown, and so you have to get it rebuilt.

It's not a fast car, and has no grunt whatsoever. Perfect for an old lady, or a parent buying a car for their kid who they don't want killing themselves.

Doesn't handle very well. The suspension doesn't fully work with the front wheel drive, and it will lose control around a fast corner.

If it's likely to lose control around a fast corner, then it isn't the perfect car for a parent to buy for their kid so they don't kill themselves, as losing control and crashing is one of the causes of death, is it not?
