I have a 1999 Kia Carnival which recently blew a head gasket at 73000km. Kia (Australia) has agreed to supply a new short motor and to cover the labour as a 'goodwill' gesture (the vehicle is 7 months out of warranty). The technician informed me on the phone that this was a known weakness in these engines.
They have asked me to pay for the cost of machining the heads and all gaskets and fluids.
