1993 Lexus ES 300 V6

Summary:

Love this car as much as I loved my Hilux - highly recommended

Faults:

2 days after purchase, the water pump failed.

2 days after purchase, the head gasket blew.

2 days after purchase, the automatic transmission failed.

Upon repairs, found that the fan control was faulty (therefore not telling me correct temperature on dashboard).

General Comments:

Purchased this car based on the reviews being nearly 100% positive.

Needed to purchase new wheels and found that second hand wheels suitable for this car are few and far between. Ended up purchasing brand new.

Very disappointed about the failure of the car within the first few days, after having 2 checks and a roadworthy on the car. However I love the car very much, and was more than happy to spend the money on repairs and have not had issues since.

Air con, speaker system, interior is all really wonderful.

Steering is wonderful, seats are comfortable, best value for money I've had, in the end.

I plan to keep it until I am rich enough for a brand new Lexus!

1997 Lexus ES 300 LXS 3.0 litre petrol

Summary:

Great design and workmanship is well worth paying in the long run

Faults:

New CV joints at 170,000 kms.

New struts and front strut mounts at 193,000km.

Various minor body creaks and groans just emerging now.

General Comments:

Ultra reliable and almost fault-free, even at 200,000 kms.

All the electrical and comfort appointments still work perfectly.

Excellent mid-range torque output.

Silky smooth 4 speed transmission. Shifts beautifully.

Leather trim, if properly cared for, remains very neat and serviceable.

A pleasure to get into and drive absolutely every time.

1997 Lexus ES 300 3 litre petrol V6

Summary:

Beautiful car to drive, and extremely comfortable

Faults:

There have been no serious (urgent) issues with the ES300, the brake pads had to be replaced around 500kms ago. All just standard procedure.

One CV joint was also replaced around 1000 ks ago, it was leaking.

General Comments:

As far as handling this car is quite heavy, but the 3L Quad Cam V6 does pack a punch. I was never disappointed with the car's performance.

Comfort wise this car is a winner, and combined with Toyota's technical experience it can't be beaten for reliability.

This car is also a good looker when kept in good condition.

The service offered by the local Lexus dealership is extremely efficient, they are polite and let you drive a new car while your car is being serviced. They also offer extra customer satisfaction options for free, for example they once chauffeured me to the international airport while my car was in service - and dropped it at the airport all expenses paid so I could drive away with it when I arrived back home.

You really can't get a better car for the price.

1992 Lexus ES 300 3.0G 3.0 V6

Summary:

Exceptional Lexus quality and Toyota reliability

Faults:

Gauge indicators flicker.

Factory stereo amplifier very quiet.

Transmission starting to give trouble, rough changes.

General Comments:

My car is a Toyota Windom which is the Toyota version of the Lexus ES300.

Exceptional value as Lexus has a several thousand dollar premium over the Toyota version of the same car. In fact, the Windom is even cheaper than a Toyota Camry of similar year and specification on which both the ES300 and windom are based.

Absolute impeccable condition for a vehicle of 14 years old! Upholstery is almost as good as new on seats and door trims. There are no rattles, except loose change in the ashtray.

I have a 92 Toyota Windom, and it drives, smells and even looks like new. It was my dad's car, and it has been off the road for over 3 years. Now I have got it, and I am putting it back on the road, and even more, I'm going to do it up, body-kit and all.

2004 Lexus ES 300 3.0 V6 vvt-i

Summary:

The Best outlooking model in Lexus

Faults:

ES model will be discontinued by replacing GS model.

But, it looks much better than the new GS. (Luxury and Grand outlooking)

General Comments:

Perfect outlooking

Perfect quality

Perfect transmission. I prefer the range between 0-60 and 80-120km/hr.

Great Review and well written. I just bought two Lexus 300 and could not be happier. The navagation system is a dream and the ride and mileage could not be more pleasant.

To me, the ES300 look just like a Camry. I have a 2006 ES300.I traded a 2004 Toyota Camry for it. The Camry drives better than the ES300.I'm still glad I bought the ES300. Lexus LS430 is next.

I bought a new Lexus ES300 in Dec-2005 and I enjoy driving it. It is a spacious & comfortable car at a reasonable price.

I had experienced other brands in the past 15 years including those made in Germany and Japan.

Lexus ES300 is the best of all so far.

I bought my Lexus ES300 at end-2005 and found a small defect on the coating of the woodgrain steering wheel 2 days after it was delivered to me. The defect was like a crack on the lacquer coating of the steering wheel. A month later, I found yet another crack on the wheel, this time, it was bigger.

I discussed with car experts and was told that the defects were probably caused by formation of coating on the substrate that was not properly treated in the car factory. Lexus has now agreed to replace the steering wheel for me.

I do not know where did you hear about the discontinue of ES production. but check the Lexus website, there`s even 07 version of the new ES coming out.

The ES300 has being discontinued in Australia, from what I heard it was because of the introduction of the IS250 or it could have been the GS, but I could be wrong.

I owned an ES350 for a year, it is a great automobile, the only thing I noticed was little paint chipping in the front head light, but I am not sure if this was a small rock that hit it in the high way. This is an excellent car. My wife traded it for (believe it or not) a Mini Cooper!!!
