1984 Mitsubishi Colt 1.4
Summary:
So worth investing in one of these
Faults:
Just bought it. One owner before myself. Just got roadworthy done and needed bugger all. 4 new tyres. Brake fluid cap had a broken clip so replaced that and flushed the brake fluid because water was in the fluid.
The rocket cover gasket was leaking.
Rear bearings needed resetting.
Door seals needed fixing (had shrunk).
Wheel stud needed replacing.
One cylinder has lost a little compression but runs fine still. And the previous owner said it goes through oil a bit, but not over the top.
General Comments:
Paid $400 for this little banger and cost under $1000 to get roadworthy including 4 new tyres.
All in all cost $2000 including on road costs and couldn't be happier. Zips around town no worries; just slows going up hill on the highway a little. But the saving on fuel is the best.
Stoked I bought this!
Apparently it's a limited addition Colt 45. I don't know how limited these are in ways of numbers sold?
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

It was sold in the US as the Dodge Colt. Neat little cars. Very hard to find now. Terrible rust protection. I'd love to find a good one someday, but hardly any are left.

Cousin had an '84 Colt back in the day, great little car. It lasted until 1997 and had well over 200,000 KM's on it before it got junked! Spent most of its life driving up and down New South Wales, good times in the 1980's and 1990's.

Consumer Reports Canada named that the most reliable car in Canada for 1984. I am glad you're enjoying the little buzz box.
