1997 Mitsubishi Diamante SEI 3.5
Summary:
A great car to own and drive, but you maybe disapointed at resale time
Faults:
Brake pads needed replacing after a service and inspection.
General Comments:
Full electrics and descent stereo system for those who wish to be spoiled.
The 3.5 V6 has good torque and steady power across the revs. However, engine noise is noticeable.
A welcome improvement in overall body looks from previous models.
Road holding and cornering is great with very little body roll.
Front wheel spin is a nuisance during faster than normal take offs, especially in the wet.
Possible problem at resale time.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

This car unfortunately has a very touching gear box.
But it is not the car's fault, but the owners from new to now. These cars need to be kept in good nick mechanically from new. Mostly with the tranny. Mine had the same issue. So I got them to fully rebuild and replace the whole gear box. Also CV torque converter, computer, everything around the gear box. Came to $10,000.00, all paid by the car yard.
Since that time I have just serviced the gear box. And it works wonderfully now. The man fixing the gear box was shock about how bad a condition it was in. He guessed it was still probably still had the factory oil in it.
Just so whoever is looking at getting one of these cars, make sure to get one with history, or make sure you get the motor and tranny check first. Not a problem of the car, but of no servicing, causing failure.
