1995 Mitsubishi Magna Elite V6 2.8

Summary:

Magna. A Magnificent Car

Faults:

The only problem was the Climate Control. It was not working, so only the fan was going bringing the air straight in from outside. The car was still under warranty at the time, so this would have been fixed free-of-charge if I had not decided to spend up on a brand new in-dash computerized Climate Control.

The electric windows needed servicing about a month after I bought it.

Other than that, absolutely nothing has gone wrong with the car.

I thought that there was a problem with the brakes because they were screeching, but apparently I wasn't using them properly.

General Comments:

Beautiful car, I previously drove a 1998 BMW and amazingly the Magna was better in performance, handling and comfort.

The first thing you notice as soon as you touch the accelerator is the engine pull at you. I live in a town where the limit is 50kmh everywhere, I found that the engine is so powerful, I didn't realize that I was easily doing over that too often.

The brakes are also powerful, Only a tap into roundabouts and the "push-pull" trick to slow down.

Nice big car with lots of leg room front and especially back. The seats are also very comfortable. I like the idea of the back head rests too.

When I bought the car, The aerial was broken off, so I had this replaced with an electric one and a new CD player. I bought the CD player to replace the cassette/radio because when the dealer had sold the car brand new, they had not written down the security code for the Stereo, this really bugged me. The stereo also, had Only 2 speakers on the top of the dash, I bought two for the back.

The speed alarm is a quite good feature, especially because of the 50kmh limit in town.

The security system is really good, and the remote keyless entry has a boot unlock button on it, which I find very handy. Although, the door locks are quite noisy when it is locked, The newer Magnas do not have door locks inside, as do most new cars.

The lighting on the inside is poor, Very dim. Although the headlamps are quite powerful and very good at night.

Very comfortable, Powerful and all over really good car.

I have bought the brand new Ford BA Falcon Fairmont just recently, and I can easliy say, the Magna is almost as good as the brand new Ford.

The 1995 Mitsubishi Magna V6 Elite is definately in my list of really good cars.

Great review, but there is no Elite model in the second

Generation cars, the Elite model was dropped in 1991, with the TP range.

Also, the Elite only came with the 2.6L 4cylinder. Mitsubishi don't offer the Magna with the 2.8L V6 you mention either...

So either you have a 1991-1993 Magna Elite 2.6 or a 1991-1995 Verada 3.0.

To the person who wrote the first comment, there is a second generation elite model. My Brother has a 1992 Magna Elite (2nd Generation). It is powered by a 2.6 L ECI engine, and is very well equipped and refined. However, there is no 3rd Generation Elite model (when the TE was introduced in 1996). Hope this helps.

I wrote this review and let me say: The first comment is incorrect, the Elite model did continue with the TS models. and to the second comment yes, sorry, it is a 4 cylinder which has come to my understanding a long time ago (by just lifting the hood!). it is a 4cyl 2.6L EFi.

And you are also incorrect, it is a 1995 Elite - not 1991 to 1993 - with the restyled TS grille

And yes, to the third comment, it is very well equipped and powerful! And, that's right, the Elite was not re-introduced with the TE model!

Thanks.

The Magna Elite ended with the introduction of the TS model. Probably because it was too close to the SE in equipment levels. Surprising to me, is that the digital speedo & dash display was unpopular. Also, there was the price tag; there was a huge $$$ jump from SE to Elite. The Elite was over-priced, & full of electronic gadgetry, much that people didn't need. I like my TP Elite, because of how hi-tech everything is (for that era). Sure no ABS or air bags, but some of its features are not even options of many of today's cars!
