1995 Mitsubishi Pajero GLS turbo diesel

Summary:

Very practical all round economical family vehicle

Faults:

Glow plug electrical rail came loose at about 40000kms causing vehicle to be very difficult or impossible to start normally.

Clutch master cylinder failed at about 80000kms.

Brake master cylinder failed at about 155000kms.

Definitely appears to run better from diesel bought at certain petrol stations.

Been fined for blowing excessive smoke.

Front brake caliper slide bolts bent, probably from towing a camper trailer.

Difficult to get electric rear diff lock to engage when required.

General Comments:

This vehicle has been a thrill to own.

It has taken me and my family half way around Australia.

It has been a pleasure to drive and also most reliable.

We have worked it hard on our camping trips and our general day to day use.

The 4 diesel turbo is an excellent performer for its age and capacity, and rounded off with wonderfully low fuel consumption.

I am in the Philippines. I am considering buying a 1995 Pajero that was locally assembled. The price is 395, bought by a car dealer from the first owner who had many family cars... What do you think of the 1995 Pajero?
