1991 Nissan 300ZX CZ-32 2+0 3.0 twin turbo

Summary:

Simple the best sports car I have ever had

Faults:

Rear wheel bearings.

Suspension bushes.

Steering rack boot.

Cam belt.

Drivers seat worn.

Replaced shock absorbers.

General Comments:

This is one of the most fun cars I have ever driven. I have had a Mitsubishi GTO (3000GT) and it does not compare to the 300ZX. I love driving it, and it is a real head turner with its deep rumble of that powerful 3.0L motor.

The 300ZX looks amazing, and it gets looks from everyone wherever it goes, and it goes like a bat out of hell. Having done up to 240Km/h, it can handle any corner you throw it into. With its HICAS 4ws system, it feels like it is on rails.

The interior is well thought out with lots of room up front, everything at your finger tips, and I love the t-top roof in summer. The only down side is that there is no room to cart anything, but this is a sports car after all.

I have had a few problems, mostly due to the last owner not keeping up with the maintenance, but you get what you pay for, as I only paid $3,500, which is dirty cheap for one of these.

Some parts are expensive, but you can expect that with any high performance car, but if you look after it, the car will go for years.

1991 Nissan 300ZX Z32 3.0 Normally Aspirated V6

Summary:

I love this car. However, maintanance IS expensive and these cars will not forgive poor servicing

Faults:

Master cylinder needed to be replaced. Only because the car was rarely driven and the seals started to 'weep'. Total cost for supply and fit (genuine nissan parts) was $550 from a Nissan dealership.

General Comments:

The Z32 300ZX is one on the 'sleekest' looking looking sports cars ever to come out of Japan.

I fell in love with the cars looks, the first time I saw them on the road and in magazines.

It reminds you of a Ferrari, a Lambo', a Porsche, a 'Vette', but it is none of these.

It looks nice and handles exceptionally due to its low centre of gravity.

Performance will not 'snap your neck', but it is more than adequate.

The turbo version is much quicker @ 204kws compared to my normally aspirated (NA) engine @ 166kws.

However, the turbo version was never released in Australia. Only the 4 seat NA version.

My car is a genuine 1 owner with VERY low kms and a stamped service book.

Therefore, I am expecting a good run from my car.

Be aware there are many imports around with non-verifiable service and kms histories - buyer beware, and get your car CHECKED by someone that understands ZXs.

Look on the Australian www.300zx.com website for info.

Buy the best example ZX that you can afford.

Preferably with no modifications.

These cars can potentially be a 'money pit' if you buy a 'lemon'.

Don't let that put you off though .... It is one of the most rewarding cars to drive, and the shape is 'timeless'.

1991 Nissan 300ZX Z32 2+0 3.0 Litre V6 Quad Cam non turbo

Summary:

You wont regret owning one

Faults:

The alternator went after 110kms.The suspension bushes had to be replaced as I was getting very bad tire wear on the front. Too much negative camber. Not bad for a car thats done over 100kms.

General Comments:

Pros:

Great looks

Good performance for a 3 liter V6 non turbo

Handles very well in corners

Reliable car

Strong body and good build quality

Good mid-High end torque.

Cons:

Low ground clearance, watch that front bumper!

Lacks low end power, possibly due to the auto 1st gear ratio.

Poor visibility.

Gas usage 14tr per 100kms.

Overall:

You will love driving this car, the cons are minor considering it is a sports car.
