1983 Nissan Bluebird GX 2.0 petrol

Summary:

An amazing car for it's age. Goes like a rocket!

Faults:

Front Pulley Seal leaked badly, but repaired. Temperature gauge not working. Door ajar light used to stay on - earth problem.

General Comments:

A fantastic car. 20 Years older than the VY Commodore, but I had to go back - missed the bluey too much!

1983 Nissan Bluebird GXE ULTRA 2.0 pintara motor ca20e

Summary:

A high performance bargain

Faults:

Blown motor, drove it too hard.

Blew the fuel pump straight off the head.

Heater controls broken.

Keeps blowing headlight fuse.

General Comments:

This hot little wagon was seriously quick and handles like new, even though it's low, very LOW.

Seats are comfortable, very fun to drive - I like driving it more than my 2002 Magna VRX.

1983 Nissan Bluebird GL L20B 83FEB 2.0L

Summary:

Good to drive, good costs

Faults:

Currently the car is needing a new fuel pump, this is resulting in power cut outs.

The car's idle default very low, I would recommended raising it a bit, other wise it stalls.

The engine is very sensitive to the cold, it likes to stall.

General Comments:

The car is a "GL" model, however, I have fitted it with the 15" alloys from a "TRX", which improved the handling, the car handles very well. The lack of power steering makes the u-turns hard on the arms, but it is quite agile for normal driving.

I also put the "TRX" wing on the car.

The car is good on fuel, $20 gets me to Brisbane and back easily (180k) and a bit of running around.

The car is good to drive, yet I believe that it is abit under-powered, you notice the proformence drop when other people get in. The car is quite heavy.

The purchase cost of the car is good, about 2500AUD (1250USD), with only 56400 +/- on the dial, and the interior in perfect condition with books.

Good fun to drive, good running costs, good price.

1983 Nissan Bluebird Phase I

Summary:

I think it's cursed

Faults:

Rust.

Blew a head gasket, cracked a cylinder head.

Carby was faulty when bought.

Distributor faulty.

Eats points.

Always goes out of tune: points and timing move.

Steering rack needed replacing.

All hoses needed replacing, some electricals.

General Comments:

This car may last forever but it's high maintenance, so I don't intend to find out. Rust will get it before anything else does.

Handling is awful, mainly due to worn shocks, which aren't worth replacing because I'd rather spend money on a new car.

This car hardly ever ran well.

My wife owns a 1982 Nissan Bluebird and I think it is the best car I have ever driven. It was in good condition when we bought it. Ever since we bought the car I have been looking after the car really well.

So we have a good car that never lets us down.

We've owned one for 21 years, and have had nothing but brilliant faithful service. Same gearbox, clutch, diff, up until sale. It had 587 thou on the odometer when sold.

Same head on the vehicle, but had been cracked twice; once at 260 thou and then at 567 thou, but solid car that just kept on going and going. More reliable than my Dad's VN Commodore.

Was that good, my parents towed a 16 foot camper and carted 3 kids around Oz in it, and it never missed a beat!!!
