1984 Nissan Patrol MQ 2.8 petrol

Summary:

Very good tough and reliable when running; dream 4x4 for beginners and anyone in general

Faults:

Carburettor problems.. need a new one, can anyone help me out by any chance on where I can get one for it?

Everything else is fine, apart no carby.

General Comments:

Very tough reliable car, built like a tank, and runs like one.

Very good, decent ground clearance, minus a lift kit.

The interior is almost pristine condition; no holes apart from one in the seats.

Very comfortable and roomy car.

Short wheel base, so is very capable of maneuvering tighter and harder courses. Goes hard, but want a turbo for it in a few years.

1984 Nissan Patrol M.Q 3.3 turbo diesel

Summary:

As long as there is air and diesel being supplied, it will keep going

Faults:

Bad rear panel rust in rear wheel arches, front left CV joint.

Blown up gearbox, snapped rear left axle, and lost the rear left wheel at 130 kmh.

General Comments:

The engines in these cars are extremely reliable, and so is the body... although they definitely need a lift kit.

Also a good car for donuts in the dirt, as long as it's in second.

A very good hunting/camping vehicle.

I have one in Costa Rica. It has a Sd33 diesel engine, and it really had taken me to every imaginable place. fuel expenses are a dime a week, has gone through 1 and 1/2 engine rebuilding, and even after at 500. 000 kilometers I would not change for any of those modern "RVs" that are a joke of a real 4WD.
