1985 Opel Manta GSi 2.0L EFI
Summary:
Fantastic sports car for the 80's and today
Faults:
The bonnet rusted severely (fixed)
The area around the sunroof rusted (almost fixed)
A teeny bit of chassis has some rust on it.
The speedo gear drive on the tail-shaft of the gearbox has failed.
General Comments:
This car is amazing! Factory Recaro interior, factory mags which are approaching stylish, a factory sunroof, wicked handling especially in the wet, this car is a gem!
As a fellow Opel owner quoted: "Looks good, goes good, rusts great!"
The girls love it, and for only 130hp, it feels and drives quickly and responsively.
Unfortunately, in my country way far away from Germany, parts are very very hard to find.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I own a manta and I put an engine from Rekord 1800 S. I own it for 10 years. It has a sunroof and it has no rust at all. Everybody says a story about the rust, but this thing here in Greece does not exist in these cars.
After all these years and 450000 km the only repairs I have done in the car is to fix the starter and the alternator, to put a used Rekord engine. The other 1300cc was not bad, but powerless for me. In the second engine I have done 250000 km and the only repair I did is to clean the head and the valves.
Manolis.
