2003 Subaru Liberty 2.0i 2.0
Summary:
It is a very good car
Faults:
Nothing has gone wrong with the car. I get it regularly serviced as with the previous Liberty I had.
General Comments:
The car gives a stiff bumpy ride compared to my previous 1993 Liberty.
I wish it had a little more ground clearance as it's too low to the ground.
It handles well though and cornering is quite safe.
The drivers seat does not give enough lower back support and a cushion is necessary to solve this problem.
It's gets good fuel economy.
The quality of the finish on the car is excellent.
I would not like to pull the spark plugs out because they are almost impossible to get to.
The car has nice styling, but is not a head turner.
The car is generally built for speed and not comfort. I just hope the next model gives a more comfortable ride.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Hi Steve,
I had a MY02 Subaru Liberty RX 2.5 sedan in which, unfortunately, the car was written-off when someone rear ended me at high speed.
I very recently purchased a new MY04 Liberty 2.5i sedan and I must say that I completely agree with you in that the fuel economy is a good 10% down compared with my MY02 model! It is really startling, particularly since most reviews and the glossy brochures give the impression that fuel consumption is as good as the previous model.
Other aspects of the car, however, are great. Headlights and front wheel turn-in are far superior to the MY02 model, and the 17-inch alloys and the colour of the metallic Artic Pearl white are fantastic.
Have you found any other owner comments regarding fuel economy, and any solution to this apparent issue?
Cheers
Michael SC
