1983 Subaru Wagon GL 1800 1.8 petrol
Summary:
Nimble and economic 4WD suited to australian conditions
Faults:
There is a clicking noise from the front axle when turning or accelerating hard. I am currently getting the CV arms replaced and this should rectify the problem.
Key can be pulled from the ignition when it is running.
General Comments:
This car is very reliable as it starts very well, does not get hot, and runs beautifully, even after 24 years of faithful service to its loyal owners.
It is excellent in wet weather use, as it has 4WD and is very light.
It is surprisingly comfortable and is suited to australian conditions. I need to be careful off the beaten track to not bottom it out, but elsewhere it's fine.
It is a fantastic beach bus, as it is nimble, reliable, comfy, and can be slept in as the rear seat folds down.
I recently had a carburettor treatment put through, and now it does 160km/h, which is excellent considering its age and the fact it only had 55kw of power when new.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have to agree.
I just bought my first Suby and I won't go back, nor will the car. For $800 AUD I bought a very clean unit; no rust, strong engine, can't fault anything. And off road; boy, does it fly! Cornering, acceleration, brakes, and steering; all a1+. I would buy another without hesitation.
