Faults:

Dashboard light failed at 120,000 km.

General Comments:

Trouble free.

Extremely reliable.

Cozy and comfortable.

Faults:

Electronic cooling fan failed after 6 years.

Component in alternator failed in 2008, but was expensive as exhaust flanges had to be removed for access.

Rear indicator light bulb failed twice in 8 years.

Front brake pad replaced 2005.

General Comments:

This car is quick and comfortable, it cruises smoothly and has been absolutely trouble free other than as described (minimal) over the 8 years of ownership of the ex Japanese Import.

This vehicle is all American bodied with only engine and drive train from Toyota. There are literally hundreds of thousands of these in the USA where they are a very popular ladies car. My wife loves it. It seems it has been badly misaligned, hence the low values today.

Service support locally is less than desirable.

Faults:

Engine light been on ONLY since I bought the car.

Car runs rough, sounds like a tractor.

Is an automatic, but when it changes gear, it kicks back.

Smells terrible!

The gas tank meter is faulty, shows petrol in it when there isn't!

$10 gas gets me about 1 hour driving.

General Comments:

Would be an O.K. car if wasn't so bad on petrol.

Labor for this vehicle costs a lot because this model of Toyota is harder to fix than other Toyota (simply because it's a Chevy).

Faults:

I had to replace the window winder motor at 20000km.

General Comments:

Overall, this car has been very reliable and hasn't cost me much at all.

It is very economical for the size of the motor, and also the performance is amazing. It can keep up with Subaru WRX's, yet it cuts out at 175km/h, which is the downside.

I travel over 1000km a week sometimes, and for the amount of k's I have clocked up, even I'm surprised nothing major has popped up. Even after what I have heard.

The only thing that I don't like about it, is that there is some serious body roll when you try to take a corner too fast.

Faults:

I Bought this car a couple of weeks ago for only $3800 (AUS). The horn didn't work so I fitted a new wiring from the horn to the centre console (near the handbrake) with a button its completely legal.

The Drivers side power window only has enough power to go half way up, but I sprayed on some window lube and it goes all the way up sometimes (better than before).

The Drivers side central locking button on the door doesn't unlock when you press it. (havn't fixed this not really a big deal)

General Comments:

Apart from all that, everything else works fine.

It's pretty powerful for a 2.4L is what all my mates say.

I've only dragged a old skool done-up Commodore at the moment and burnt him 5 times at 5 set of lights.

The brakes have to be pressed hard to brake for small obstacles.

I think I might need new suspension because it drives hard.

Went up to 160kms easily over hills and easily avoided a crash, so it's a pretty good car.

But this car won't be able to handle hard cornering, that's why I want to lower it heaps.

It's a great car for driving around at night because it looks better the way the lights a positioned etc. It sort of looks like a Nissan 200SX from the front.
