2008 Renault Megane Expression 1.5 dCi diesel
Summary:
Perfect
Faults:
Nothing at all. Just regular maintenance like oil and filters.
Oh yeah, just one bulb has gone; so much for "bad" French electrics.
General Comments:
Best car ever! Was in big dilemma between the Golf VI and Megane, and after all this time, it was a well made decision.
Pros: Very comfortable, reliability 10/10, low consumption.
It has the 1.5 dCi 86HP engine, which is on the low edge regarding performance, but if you are not in hurry and looking for a small economic engine, look no further. Another plus is the engine is very elastic and can pull off if it's needed, especially over 2000RPM in second gear.
The huge boot is a big big plus. Much better than the Golf's. Enough space on the rear seats is another plus. Although people on other reviews say that it's cramped, that's not true; it's better than the Golf VI in the back seats. Just try move from one side to another on the back seats with your feet straight. In the Megane you can do it easily! In the Golf you need to twist your feet.
Other things I like on it; digital tacho, start button, great and responsive steering.
Cons: If you are not skilled driver, rear parking could be a problem, and parking sensors are a must!
Noisy engine when cold in winter time! After warming up, all is OK.
Cabin noises are OK, although could be a bit better.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Agree with you regarding quality. I drive a 2004 Megane 1.6. The dash rattles, especially on the passenger side - sounds like a Spanish dancer with castanets. It even rattles when I drive over smooth concrete in a parkade. Also there is a metallic banging noise from the LF suspension when cornering.
There are no functional failures, but my overall impression is that I would have been better off buying a Corolla.
