1991 Renault 25 TXI
Summary:
The R25 in France is the ultimate workhorse
Faults:
When you love someone you can only think of the good features! I had to replace locks and keys once (it's a long story) and got them from a scrapyard for less than 100 Euro; a clutch cable snapped in traffic and was replaced by the Renault garage in Saumur within the hour, for about 70 Euro. During the three years that I, newly retired, drove her all over France, Spain and Portugal, there was some wear and tear. I like to think of it as a sort of graceful decline, a bit like myself.
One fault, cause of her being replaced: there are only two seat belts in back and my grandchildren are increasing in number and size.
General Comments:
Long drives south are the norm once the weather gets warm; I can drive 800 kilometers to the Mediterranean and arrive fresh, no backache. Fuel economy is good: 7.2 litres/100 kilometer. The hi-fi is impressive. Sure, the air conditioning is only a pleasant memory, but it wasn't worth my while to replace the leaking radiator at 400 Euro, especially as the car only cost me 1,100. It's a simple matter to open the window if it gets too hot.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Yes, the auto is not very good on this car. If you get manual gears they're good. I have had two R25s, and they've been manuals, and they never let me down.
