2004 Nissan Patrol LX tdi 4.0
Summary:
It's an excellent suv. I love it
Faults:
The only problem with this car is that due to its size the engine tends to be quite underpowered, sluggish as most SUV, but once it gets going, nothing will stop it.
General Comments:
It is a monster on and off road, very comfortable and reliable, low mileage yes, but luxury, safety and comfort pays for it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Me again. The vehicle is now 40,000km and already has shown some problems:
- noisy front axle, no one seems to know reason or source
- ABS activates at 60 km/hr or below in bad roads, not allowing vehicle to stop.
- noisy steering bar
- shimming after 80kph, has been aligned, but shimming insists.
Overall, the vehicle is good, but I am convinced now that the body is way to heavy for the chassis. A friend of mine has one just the same and has already broken the chassis, although he drives like a madman on any road, but still, vehicle should be tougher than that.
I am somehow disappointed now, since the reputation of the legendary Patrol is now being seriously affected by these luxurious, but fragile vehicles.

I had a similar problem with a 1998 Patrol. I had new tyres fitted and many wheel balances, but the problem did not go away until I was under the car changing the oil, when I noticed a large nut. I think it was on the end of what is called the panard rod. After I tightened it, there were no more shaking problems. I hope this helps.

Well, after driving it a bit in real harsh terrains, I have found something going wrong with it, and it's that the rear door tends to crack because of the weight of the spare tire. Nissan should pay attention to this detail. Apart from that, the vehicle is still a beauty.
