2003 Volkswagen Polo 1.6 gasoline

Summary:

Nice little city car

Faults:

Clutch was beginning to wear and slip, and there was a "friction" noise coming from the engine, which was attributed to the release bearing. Entire clutch was replaced, but the noise won't go away... now it turns out it could be the clutch fork...

Other than that and a minor oil leak somewhere in the engine, the car runs fine.

General Comments:

I had a 2001 Jetta a while ago and liked it a lot. This time, I was looking for an economy car for my daily commute. So far, I think this Polo has about what I need.

It's quite roomy for its class and size. Seems better built than the average Japanese car its age, and fuel economy is very good.

As usual with VWs, the paint is beginning to wear, especially on top of the cabin and at the edges, but it still looks nice. I think it is a very good choice for a first car, or a student's car. It is not outstandingly fast, but it delivers when demanded, without feeling forced.

2003 Volkswagen Polo Comfortlne 1.6

Summary:

A high performance bargain

Faults:

At about 10,000 the front rear wheel start making some noise, but the streets in Guatemala are pretty bad so, in its 12 000 service just fixed it, some loose nuts or something not anything out of this world.

General Comments:

The very first time a got in the car I fell in love. I choose it from several brands of its type, and the vw polo won.

This car is seriously quick and handles like it's on rails.

The car is very comfortable, its space is nice, everything is at your hands.

Fuel economy is notable on this car, I am very happy because I spend about 25 dollars a week.
