2000 Skoda Octavia GLXi 1.6 gasoline

Summary:

Improved Volkswagen

Faults:

Rear window clip broke down, so the window could not go back up - I fixed it myself, and it's been working perfect for 5 years already.

Ceiling upholstery fell down (after 10 years!!!)

Air conditioning foam sealant flows from the vents.

A/T is slipping sometimes, and sometimes a knock is felt between the gears.

General Comments:

All the car is original!!! Nothing has changed yet.

Very reliable and solid car, very comfortable.

Low fuel consumption; 8.2L/100km average - the car weighs 1400 kilos empty.

VERY big trunk - 550 liters.

Actually a Volkswagen, but much better, and much more reliable, comfortable and cheaper.

I have a Skoda Octavia -00. I was wondering about the fuel consumption? My Octavia (combi-model) consumes only 6,5-7,0 city/highway driving, with no load. How can you make it up to 8,5 liters? Automatic car?... I drive a manual shift model.

The 10 years I've owned it, have been just great! NO PROBLEMS AT ALL! The service book is full, all service done. It's a reliable friend of mine, I will not change this car until she's finished for good.. my best friend (just bought new seat covers to cheer her up a bit.) There's no rust to be found either. Car inspection... clean papers every year! I live in Sweden.. so we have summer, winter, spring and autumn.. all weather types.. and she's just movin' on.

2000 Skoda Octavia GLXi Kombi 1.6 (74KW/101BHP)

Summary:

Excellent car for little money

Faults:

Air conditioning system has lost gas and therefore was unable to cool the car (a very serious problem in Israel).

Rear-Left power-window went down but didn't go back to the normal closed position.

The lights of the air conditioning control panel have died.

General Comments:

A very comfortable car, very stable at any speed.

Huge boot space could contain a whole house hold.

The 1.6 litre engine is a bit too small for a car that heavy (it weighs about 1400 kilos empty), this makes fuel consumption a bit high and slow accelleration.

Not much leg room for people over 1.70 meters in the back seat.

My next car is a new Skoda Octavia TDI Kombi.
