Summary:
Nice powerful hatchback
Faults:
Nothing till now.
General Comments:
The car is very powerful.
The boot is very big and useful.
Driver seat is not comfortable in long trips.
The dealer here does not provide cruise control as an option (dealer's fault).
Sport package suspension and tires are not suitable for my country's roads (dealer's fault).
The fuel consumption is more than stated; around 10.5 l/100 km inside the city!
Another important fault by the dealer is that the employees are not professional, and I have recently discovered that there is a dent and scratch and exposed body paint due to a hit at the bottom of the car at the driver side. Of course, they did not tell me that issue when they handed the car to me, and I can't prove that the hit was made by them, since more than 2 months had passed since the delivery of this car.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I know this comment was written a while ago, but did you get the noise diagnosed? Unfortunately it could be characteristic of the car. The Octavia is a good car, but refined it is not - it is a very noisy car. I've owned a few over the years, and had replaced a whining alternator pulley, 2 wheel bearings, and although it was less noisy after this, the car still had various drones and booming noises here and there. Could be a driveshaft or something else, but to be honest I just think it is the car - it is not very well insulated against noise. You hear wind and tyre noise, even at low speeds.
Of my 3 Octavia's (a 2003, 2006 and an updated 2011 model), they have both been noisy even with all typical noise generating faulty parts replaced, even on the updated car. I would still recommend this car to anyone - unless you are looking for a quiet refined car, then look elsewhere.

I found the review from Jordan very interesting, as I also own a Skoda 1.8 TSI. I agree with all the comments as regards the performance of the car. Skoda have done a good job. It's well built, well finished, powerful, and generally a joy to drive.
I do have the same comment regarding the suspension. It was not sold to me as a "sport tuned suspension", but rather "rough road package". It certainly is not a rough road package, which I would expect to be one with longer throw & more compliance. Nevertheless, I am now used to it, and it is not a big deal.
My only complaint is that from speeds of 90Km/hr upward, a loud hooting sound resounds from what appears to be the rear of the instrument panel. It is somewhat inconsistent, but by 120Km/hr it is constant and unbearable. The dealer has heard it, and no one seems to have the slightest idea as to cause. It was first thought to be associated with the turbo charger, i.e. a resonating air line, but the thing is it is not engine speed triggered. It is a totally road speed phenomenon. High RPM at speeds below 100Km/hr do not produce the sound.
If anyone has come across this problem or can suggest a cause, I would really appreciate hearing from them. My car is still under warranty, and I really think this can be solved, but it needs some intelligent diagnosis.
