2005 Hyundai Getz GL 1.3
Summary:
Takes you from point A to point B safely
Faults:
None that requires serious attention. Just minor ones (horn sometimes became faulty.. and that's about it..)
However, in 2009, the car involved in an accident. Got hit on the driver's side (side impact) by a fast moving minivan (a Kia Sedona/Carnival).
After the accident (very terrible, but workshop managed to repair the car and it's on the road again), problems started to occur, which I think might be caused by the accident:
Check engine light keeps turning on.. Got it checked at service center. Found out that it's the cat-con and oxygen sensor problem (probably because of the impact during the accident).
General Comments:
Very very safe car to drive. Saved my wife's live.. She was behind the wheel when the accident happened. She escape with only minor injuries, although the car looks unrepairable at first. That 4 star NCAP rating is actually good for something.. And this came from a car without those side impact, driver's airbags etc.
After been repaired, it's on the road again. NVH is as good as brand new. Korean cars are surely built tough.
Handling is good. A bit of understeer, but good for normal drivers like most of us. Very stable at high speed and cornering (managed to floor it to 170km/h on stock condition, didn't dare to go further).
Fuel consumption is OK, around 50+km/L..
A bit underpowered with its 1.3L engine.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Hi.
I am now looking to get a Getz, and I was wondering, what did you do to fix the brake knocking sound? Since another Getz owner from Malaysia also mentioned the same problem, and also exactly at after 5000k, I'm a bit worried it's a manufacturing problem.
Did it get sorted under warranty? How about the trims?
Have you encountered any problems since? When you say consumption for petrol is high, how high are you talking about? km/l?
Thanks!
