2005 Renault Megane Expression 2.0

Summary:

Reliable and good value for money

Faults:

Not much, after 2 years of ownership:

The sunroof did not open once after being out in the sun for too long (Only happened once... it later cooled down and it functioned perfectly ever after)

General Comments:

I've got the Megane II, which is a hatchback. This car is a love-it or hate-it type of vehicle because of it's looks. I LOVE IT OF COURSE.

My first impression was that the gas and the break pedals were too close to each other, but one gets used to it... I never thought about it again and never had any sort of problems with this.

The good:

Great value for money as Renault was (probably still is) re-entering the Mexican market. This fully equiped (sunroof and moon roof, 16" alloy wheels, automatic windows in all 4 windows -up and down-, lights sensor, rain sensor, etc) only cost about US$18,000.

Seats are much more comfortable than the ones that my unreliable Freelander had. Many positions to play with and I love the way headrests adjust.

Love the electronic steering, makes it easy to park anywhere.

The cabin is very quiet, this car blocks outside noise very well.

It has many practical compartments to put stuff all over the car.

The not-so-good:

Brakes are generally superb, however during turns on uneven surfaces I've noticed they do not respond too quickly.

Transmition is a bit clunky, not too smooth, but nothing terrible.

It is impossible to fit more than two golf bags in the trunk.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Most small hatchbacks can't hold more than two golf bags. You should have bought an estate!
