1997 Skoda Felicia 1.3 LXi
Summary:
Great build quality, bad engine
Faults:
After a week the first problem appeared: the battery. This was normal maintenance.
1500km later followed a new thing: the valves are making a noise; so had to adjust them.
750km later it was leaking oil. A new seal needed to be fitted.
And at last the spark plug broke and fell in the cylinder.
General Comments:
The build quality of the car itself and looks are great. It's uncomfortable, not economical, and has a bad engine. I would go for the 1.6 VW engine if I could choose again.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

You've been very unlucky and seem to have got a lemon as these engines have generally proved to be very reliable and robust. I have one and have done 20k in a year with no problems whatsoever. I would prefer the 1.3 Skoda lump to the VW 1.6 one without a doubt. The 1.3 or the 1.9 VW diesel are the 2 to go for in my opinion.
