1991 Acura Integra GS 1.8L DOHC

Summary:

Quick, agile, and reliable

Faults:

Had a valve cover nut-cap snap the stud when I tried to remove it. It was most likely tightened too far by the last person, as these shouldn't be high torque.

Replaced shocks at 145,000 miles.

No major problems.

General Comments:

If it weren't missing all the fancy tech of a new car, I'd never guess it was 22 years old.

The seats hold you nicely, and there's a fair amount of rear seating room for such a small car.

There's a ton of rear cargo space, even with a speaker box in the trunk.

I get much better gas mileage than the EPA ratings for this car; easily in the mid 30 MPG range.

It handles like a dream and has surprising pull for what it is.

P.S. the massive windscreens are wonderful for peripheral vision.

I plan to keep this car forever.

1991 Acura Integra RS 1.8L

Summary:

If they still made these, I would buy 2!

Faults:

I had to replace the alternator (60 bucks).

One set of tires.

Brakes.

Rust is slowly taking over.

Remote rear latch handle doesn't work, need to use a key.

A/C doesn't work.

General Comments:

This car has been absolutely bullet proof! On more than one occasion I let the oil run dry, and it still is happy to keep going!

I've had this car for 5 years and 100,000 kilometers, and I've spent less money repairing it in those 5 years than I've spent on my 2005 Mazda3 that I have only owned a year!

I love the way it handles, and never has any problem starting, even when it's -30 degrees.

Best decision I ever made was buying this vehicle.

I'll keep it until it turns to dust, which it appears it is not planning on doing anytime soon.

1991 Acura Integra LS SE B17A1

Summary:

One of the cheapest, faster cars of then and now, with the style and luxury you need

Faults:

My coolant hoses started popping.

Control arms were going out.

Ball joint went out.

A little water in the trunk area.

General Comments:

The Integra LS Special Edition has great matching interior, and the looks are better than cars of today.

Since I did a B17 swap, the car is very quick and fast.

On the B17, I have a skunk 2 intake manifold and throttle body, and AEM intake, Hondata S200, P28 ECU DC Sports header, OBX high flow cat, Magnaflow exhaust, Blox Type B cams and dual valve springs, and XTD Stage 1 Clutch.

The handling is very smooth and precise.

The car overall looks great and performance; do this to yours, and tell me personally what you think?

1991 Acura Integra RS 1.8

Summary:

Poor decision

Faults:

Alternator faulty.

Fan turns on while car is not running... drains battery.

Surging idle.

Dead battery.

Oil leak.

General Comments:

This car has been a total disaster. Has problems that are hard to diagnose.

This car is way overrated. Brother had '97 and had to sell it due to several problems. Quite a few car mechanics told me they will not work on Hondas (Acuras).

The car has a surging problem at idle.

There is an major leak that I need to take care of. There were no leaks when I purchased the car.

My 1994 Chevy Cavalier was a way better choice. I had 280,000 on it when I sold it. I should have just swapped in a new motor.

I had to wire a toggle switch for the fan because it was draining the battery by running for several hours after the engine was turned off.

Yeah, I had a '92 Integra with idle issues. I changed IACV and it still was doing it. I sold it and got a '96 Chevrolet Camaro... great decision!

1991 Acura Integra GS

Summary:

Overall a very reliable A to B car, and nothing more

Faults:

I've only owned the car for a short time, bought if off of a friend, just using it as a car to bomb around in while I'm in college.

So far only issue I've had is the blower motor resistor, I replaced it myself a couple weeks ago, no real problems since.

Starting to rust a bit around the rocker panels, but I mean, the car is 18 years old!

Leather seats have started to wear and show some of the foam inside (again 18 years old!)

Makes a whine type squeaking noise when steering - started at the beginning of winter, seems it might be the belt (hopefully)

General Comments:

The car is tired now, doesn't have the same get-up-and-go it probably had 15 years ago, but it still goes and is fairly comfortable.

Changed the oil at 320000km when I bought it, and now almost 4000km more I haven't even had to ADD any oil!

Fairly good on gas, although when it's cold it idles very high (2500RPM), so if I'm trying to warm it up in the morning, it doesn't take too long, but it eats up the gas - I'd say I get around 24-28mpg.

Decent amount of room in the car (I'm 6'2"), although I wouldn't wanna be the guy sitting behind me in the back seat!
