1992 Acura Integra GS-R 1.7L VTEC 16v inline 4
Summary:
One of the great engines of all time
Faults:
Radiator went bad after 115K - this is an extremely common problem with Integras, everyone I know that has owned one in this mileage range has replaced the radiator at this same mileage mark. Luckily, there are millions of aftermarket options, most of them quite cheap. Just stay away from more half-plastic ones like the OEM included when the car was made.
Car would hesitate slightly in wide-open throttle in first gear, before rushing off to tremendous speeds. Maybe a half-second or less hesitation, could have been not enough air, or gas, or who knows what. Only minor irritation for those who drag race, all others wouldn't even notice.
General Comments:
The best car I've owned - needed lots of work to get it to pass MD inspection, but the dealer charitably took care of all of it. The VTEC engine is just amazing - from 1.7L, I got 170 hp, with only a ram air intake which I installed myself. Great performance and good mileage (not stellar, note, but very good). I liked the look and feel of the car very much. Low-slung body made handing great. Engine had great exhaust sound. Acura engineering just fantastic across the board. Only complaints: the transmission needed a 6th speed, the shifter needed closer gears, brake dust tended to tarnish alloy rims.
Managed 0-60 in about 7 seconds weighing around 2500 lbs with only 115 foot-pounds of torque. Amazing!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Hi, I have a 92 GSR and I was wondering why it kinda chokes when I get to 4-45 thousand rpm??? If you step on the gas pedal on the way down, it chokes around that time, but just for that one quick second?
