1993 Acura Integra LS Special 1.8 DOHC

Summary:

Fun, fast, and reliable!

Faults:

The original clutch snapped at 140,000 miles, but was an easy fix for $200. This was the first repair I had to make on the car.

I replaced the original exhaust system at 152,000 miles. The exhaust system could have lasted another year or so, but I made the decision to replace it early.

General Comments:

This car is extremely reliable and is the best car that I have ever owned.

It handles exceptionally and performs very well in the snow and rain with its front wheel drive.

This car is fast, sporty, stylish, and very fun to drive everyday.

1993 Acura Integra RS 1.6

Summary:

The Best!!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing throughout the 4 year lease! Once a piece of ice fell from a tree and dented the hood. This is THE only car I've ever had that was totally trouble free for the duration of the lease.

General Comments:

I have had 2 Acuras since this one a 1.6 EL and now a 3.2TL. Nothing compares to the 1993 Integra RS, I still see the new owner driving it around town-it looks a little worse for wear and out of curiousity one day I checked it's odometer (no I am not stalking my old Acura!!) and it was ready to hit 300,000! The Acura Dealership kept calling me even before the lease expired to trade it in, there was a huge demand for used Integras and mine (lady driven, non-smoker) was mint with very low kilometers. The absolute best thing about this car (besides the fact that it was trouble-free) was the suspension-you could drive it into a rockpit and never feel a bump. My 3.2TL is similar in that respect, but it cost far more $$$.

1993 Acura Integra RS Special 1.8L

Summary:

I love this car, will never sell it

Faults:

The car antenna broke twice. I suggest using a flexible short antenna so it won't break again. Motorized car antennas may look nice, but are expensive.

Braking in this car felt hard. I thought the disk brakes were almost worn out until I had it checked. The brakes were only 25% used and the brake fluid was changed recently so I don't know what the problem is.

General Comments:

Acura made the Integra very sporty and the best part of the car is the low seats. You feel like you're driving a sportscar.

While accelerating, you can even notice how the car shifts (my car is automatic transmission). Sometimes I wish my car was manual instead.

The cabin space is perfect, but for people sitting in the back for long journeys, I'm not so sure they'll be comfortable.

I put in a JVC car stereo and it works so well with the 4 speakers that came with the Acura. It sounds perfect.

1993 Acura Integra RS

Summary:

Not what it's cracked up to be

Faults:

Master Cylinder went out at 26,000 miles.

Rotor needed replacement at 50,000.

Hydroplanes on wet roads.

General Comments:

I don't know how many near-collisions I had trying to keep my drinks from spilling onto the beautiful interior.

Cup holders are a big reason I still don't own the Integra.

This car will lose control going 10 mph on snowy roads.

Car will spin out on off-ramps during wet weather.

Fog lights are nice.

Feels like you're sitting on the ground.

Auto seatbelts are annoying.

Stop endangering other drivers with your poor driving habits.

Hydroplanes on wet roads? Any car will do that.

My Integra 93 with 15 inch sport tires hugs the road like a dream, never had problems on wet or slippery roads.

The hydroplaning and spinning out is because of bad tires (and by the sounds of your comments, bad driving) not the car. Do you have Firestone tires on it? They are bad for that (I had the same problem with Firestone tires on my Celica until I changed to Bridgestone, funny thing is they are related companies). And I agree with the first comment, if you are having near misses trying to avoid spilling your drink, then you don't need to have a drink in the car with you, you need more driver training. Go take a racing course, they teach what everyone on the road should know about how to safely drive a car on or off a track. Driving is a privilege, not a right.

Just my two cents.
