General Comments:
After owning an Acura Integra for many years, I thought I would love an upgrade to the Acura RSX. I test drove two RSX's, and decided against buying it (I got a Subaru Impreza 2.5 instead).
Everything seemed good for the RSX on paper - good reliability and fuel economy. As soon as I test drove it, I knew the RSX was not the right car. The automatic trans seems sluggish (compared to the auto trans in my old Integra). The brakes felt mushy and non-linear. I felt they would not stop the car in time (the Integra brakes were great). Steering felt okay, but everyone knows that the RSX has a terrible turning radius.
Worst of all, the cabin of the RSX felt cramped. Too bad, because I really wanted to like this car, and it looks great from the outside.

Obviously the reviewer was describing the base model RSX, which had an automatic tranny, and small discs up front (brakes), and 160hp inline 4 cyl. engine. I own the type S version, which only comes with 6spd. manual tranny, larger discs upfront, and a 201hp inline 4 cyl. engine. There is a world of difference between how the 2 different models drive. That 6spd. shifter is one of the smoothest shifting linkages with short throws. And why would anyone buy a sports car with an automatic, anyway?
