1992 Acura Vigor LX 2.5

Summary:

Very solid, good looking and fun vehicle with quality written all over it

Faults:

Have had the car over a year and have not had any problems as of yet. With Regular fluid changes my Vigor runs almost like new. The only thing I have change other than regular maintenance fluids are the brakes.

General Comments:

The car is very quick off the line and handles better than an 11 year old car should. Both the exterior and interior of vehicle are in excellent condition with window tinting and adding an after market stereo being the only changes made.

Entering and exiting the car on the drivers side is a little tight, but seats are very comfortable.

My gas mileage is not what I think it should be, but than again it might time for a tune up.

1992 Acura Vigor LS 2.5 5-cylinder

Summary:

Interesting car, but not typical Honda/Acura quality

Faults:

Air Conditioning at 90km $500.

Left Rear Wheel Bearing at 95km $200.

Power Steering Hose Leak at 97km $20.

Transmission Cooler Hose Leak at 98km $10.

Radiator at 109km $140.

Oil Cooler O-ring at 109km $5.

Distributor O-ring at 110km $5.

Alternator at 110km $120.

General Comments:

I am glad to have owned this car, but it has been something of a lemon. I find that I am spending several hours and at least $100 per month just keeping it on the road. This is not entirely unreasonable for an 11-year old car, but I expect more from a Honda/Acura product. The car only has 110,000 km on it (68,000 miles)

It is starting to rust like crazy around the wheel wells and the bottom of all 4 doors. It has leaked every fluid except brake fluid.

On a more positive note, the car is comfortable, fun to drive, and powerful. Although a first generation Legend would be cheaper, just as much fun, and probably more reliable. I am ready to move onto my next car.

1992 Acura Vigor GS Inline 5

Summary:

Best Car I Ever Owned - Bar None

Faults:

Radio Display Went at about 90k miles.

Windshield washer pump at about 120k.

General Comments:

Dependable - need I say more.

Maintains it's good looks - doesn't look old or out of style 11 years later.

Have had very few problems.

Wish it had a freakin' cup holder...

I bought it with some trepidation in 1992 - even got the extended warranty which I never used. This car is solid as a rock and easily the best I've owned.

My aunt has had this car since 1992, then two years ago I bought it from her and I have loved it every day. The only thing is that when I got in my wreck finding parts was extremely hard to do. Oh yeah, I need a cup holder!

I have only had my vigor for a year got it used with 115k miles. In the short time I have had to replace a cv joint and the brake master cylinder. I don't think that is too bad for a 13 year old car.

1992 Acura Vigor GS 2.5litre 5 cylinder

Summary:

This is a solid vehicle with a great, quality feel

Faults:

Speedometer went at 85,000 miles and required replacement of the entire cluster. Acura wanted $700 or so to do. I found a cluster at a wrecker for less than $100 and had it replaced for about $100.

Seat heaters have not worked since I got the car. Backs work fine however. To solve the problem and save wear on the leather I put wool fleece seat covers on the seat portion only. Left the backs natural. Warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Looks good too!

Have replaced the timing belt as a regular maintenance item.

Otherwise just general maintenance. The previous owner was a fanatic for regular maintenance at the Acura dealer. I am nearly as fanatical, but not at the dealer. I use a very reliable local independent whom I trust with my "baby".

General Comments:

I really love my Vigor. Probably have never had such an affection for a car, even more than my 1990 Miata. Got two offers to sell it this past summer and thought seriously about it (Offered $8000) but then thought about replacement cost, plus I know what I have. Also, I only drive it 6 months of the year since I take the Miata out in the summer. Makes both vehicles seem new-to-me when I drive them again. Anyway, still going strong after 10 years.
