1994 Acura Vigor GS 2.5

Summary:

An extremely reliable mid-level luxury sedan

Faults:

Ignition tumbler failed at 145,000. Couple hundred dollars to replace.

A/C failed last summer at 185,000. Need to convert to R134 this summer (2003).

Odometer and trip stopped turning at around 187,000. Removed the instrument cluster to investigate. The maintenance reset button had "jammed" causing the wheels to stop turning. Pushed the button in again and it solved the problem.

Replaced both front CV boots.

Replaced several leaky gaskets over the years.

Replaced back-lights for the radio.

Transmission has been making an odd noise in 1st gear for about 30,000 miles. Too expensive to investigate, but the transmission isn't slipping or grinding.

Oil pan gasket is getting replaced this week. $2.45 for the part, $390 for the labor.

General Comments:

The car has been extremely reliable aside from the recent problems (last 15,000 miles).

The interior is in excellent condition.

Paint job has been exceptional.

I'm afraid to have to replace it in the near future. There aren't too many cars on the market that have the same features for the same price. Although I will likely get another Acura.

1994 Acura Vigor GS 2.5 inline 5

Summary:

A great car that needs a cup holder! (I know, get over it...)

Faults:

ABS - under warranty.

Power antenna - under warranty.

Master cylinder.

General Comments:

According to the other reviews I've seen so far, I've had mine the longest. I bought mine as a lease return and have never looked back.

I had to have some work done on the ABS system about a month after I bought it (all under warranty, whew!) and the power antenna was replaced, too.

Just now have to replace the master cylinder and I need to do the timing belt as part of normal maintenance.

Love this sleeper! Wish it had a G** D*** cup holder! What WERE they thinking?

To be honest with you, what the hell do you need cup holders for when you have a passenger.

You should concentrate on the road and have some fun.

Honda designed the car to be driven and not used as a lunch table, coffee table, kitchen table or any other snacking table for burgers, fries or lattes.

Dude, you're driving! Be smart and look for the other fools eating, putting on makeup or looking at the bottom of a coffee cup instead of the road.

Haha relax man... he just wishes he could put down his Pepsi so he can concentrate more on driving than holding the can. It's everyone's right to have a (non-alcoholic) beverage while driving, as long as it doesn't detract from their performance on the road.

1994 Acura Vigor 2.5 litre 5 cylinder

Summary:

A luxurious and extremely powerful sports sedan

Faults:

Nothing is wrong with this little Japanese crotch rocket other than that it is so light that I am constantly chirping the tires.

Not very much back seat room.

Vibrating buzzing noise when accelerating from the interior - unknown source.

General Comments:

Lots of trunk space.

Classy luxury car mixed with a sports sedan - very cool!

In one word... fast. This thing flies from 0 to 60 in no time.

It's rust free and looks good by today's standards, even for its age.

Absolutely no body work done to it other than touch ups from people who don't understand common courtesy when swinging open doors and denting other people's cars. The car itself is very sporty, the leather luxurious and the moon roof great during the summer.

All of the controls are extremely easy to access and use without much concentration or distraction. The power steering is light and the braking is smooth.

The car seals you from the outside world's noise very well. Extremely powerful engine which makes you laugh at those 4 cylinder sedans... Ha Ha Ha!!!

An overall amazing ride..

1994 Acura Vigor GS 2.5 I5

Summary:

Vigor = Accord + Prelude + A lot of class + Steroids

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car, but I just got it.

General Comments:

Fast. Fast. Fast. I had '89 2.0Si Prelude a few years back and was searching for a newer one and found this '94 Vigor. What a car. It emenates quality. Power and leather all around for 11,400. And it only has 64500 and a clean Carfax. It's a head turner.

I've had 3 Hondas and they all got over 140,000 before I sold them and I had little to no trouble with them. Sure beats the '98 tin can with plastic lining that Jeep calls the Cherokee that I used to have.
