General Comments:
Handles like a dream.
Breaks down like a nightmare.
Dealer's response to numerous failures is "Well, it IS the first model year for the new A4."
My response is "So what? I paid 60K (Can$) for it. I expect it to work."
Dealers can keep telling themselves that these types of problems are to be expected with a new model. This is why VW/Audi ranks at the bottom of the J.D. Power and Assoc. customer satisfaction ratings. This is my fourth and final VW/Audi. Never again.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

WOW, I'm so glad I came to this site. I was ready to purchase a 2002 A4 with 90k miles, the asking price was 5900 dollars US. I thought it was too good of a deal. It's a shame because this car is so beautiful. I guess I'll stick to American made.

Now here's the thing, stop having a cry over your little problems. Don't worry, be happy, they are a nice car and some people could only wish to drive them.

Not worth the money spent. The days of German reliability are over with. Someone will post that they have an Audi with xxx,000 miles and never had a problem with their car. VW and Audi need to switch over to timing chains instead of costly repairs to do timing belts. Even better, don't lie about doing routine maintenance, specifically oil changes. Audi claimed that the 1.8T and 3.0L motors needs oil changes at every interval, only to discover that the service interval should be earlier to due oil sludge issues clogging oil pumps. No recall, just let the engines fail and service will make $$$.

I wonder if it's for similar reasons, that a used 2002 Jaguar S-Type is sold cheap.

THis is what I don't understand about Audi and VW. They have fantastic interiors and other features that are class leading and scream quality. But the cars themselves are junk.
I would love to buy a new GTI, but I am afraid of it spending all the time at the dealership. My friend's A3, an amazing car, already has little creaks and groans about it, although he has had no major problems that required a dealer visit.
People need to learn that money does not equal quality or even customer service/support.
