2000 Audi A6 Quattro 2.7

Summary:

Not worth having it if you can't afford the HIGH repairs

Faults:

Everything.

Bought the car from an Audi dealer. They were supposed to have done a 350pt check and service the vehicle. 1st week, I realised the headliner is sagging, took it back to the dealership. I was told bluntly, it's your vehicle, do whatever you want to.

Another week, found the left front window doesn't work properly. Slow to pull up the window, and sometimes doesn't even pull up. Cost of repair, $350.

Another week, the coolant tank emptied out.

3 months: car won't start one fine evening. Took it for repair at 49000 miles. $5000.

Items changed: catalytic sensor, ignition sensor, both fuel pumps, both water pumps. Dealership took 45 days to identify and repair the vehicle.

One more month, tires worn out.

One more month, brake pads worn out.

3 months (8 months with the car), ABS light starts blinking. Took the car to a different dealership. Following repairs done:

Engine mounts.

ABS.

Total repair: $4800

Took the car home, next day the car started wobbling, check engine light on, took it to a different Audi dealer; they found, both AIR PUMPS have failed. Repair cost $1300.

8 months later: Air bag light on.

2 months (2 years after buying), check engine light comes on. The torque converter has a faulty gasket seal that needs replacement, Since that cannot be replaced, the whole assembly needs replacement. Cost of repair: $5100.

I have finally decided to dump the car, but all I am getting is $1000 as trade in. The car is immaculate from the outside, no scratches, nothing, got new tires (less than 5K miles).

It has really been a pain on my wallet to own this car. Not sure if it's just this Audi, or all Audi's have these issues.

11 year old car, has less than 64K miles on it.

Good luck guys, I have wasted 20K on it since I bought it.

General Comments:

Good car, poor maintenance and repair options. Audi needs to improve on its repair ability, and the cost of repairs. It's way too expensive to own and run the car.

2000 Audi A6 2.8

Summary:

Ummmm, not bad

Faults:

I have electrical spurts every so often. My radio doesn't keep its memory every time I turn the car on, and while driving my radio changes stations by itself sometimes, and while driving on the highway or street, my cruise control has turned on by itself... twice! The radio doesn't bother me so much as the cruise control does. I was thinking Audi Canada could fix it for free, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I have yet to write in to Audi Canada because it recently happened to me in the last 2 months.

My car isn't bad, but since I purchased the car 18 months ago, I have put in $3000 CAD into it. I knew the timing belt needed changing, but because they were under the hood, they suggested water pump, tensioner, and radiator. I didn't know the front end was so complex, and that it was very time-consuming to take off the whole bumper and lights just to get into the engine. It's a huge money maker!

2000 Audi A6 Quattro 2.7 turbo

Summary:

The car rides nicely, but the numerous repairs will cost more than the car itself

Faults:

1. ABS failed ($2,000 repair).

2. Leak in the turbo.

3. Check engine light (countless times).

General Comments:

I will never buy an Audi again. I paid $10,990 for it at 78,000 miles, which I believed was a pretty good deal.

The car runs very smoothly and it's a pleasure to drive. There are countless issues with it, however.

In the 13,000 miles I have put on it over 2 years, I have had to take it into the repair shop dozens of times. It seems like, more often than not, there is something wrong with the car.

Total, repairs have cost about $4,500. Currently, the check engine light is on (an almost expected occurrence nowadays). I can't afford to upkeep this car anymore, and my patience has worn thin.
