2001 Audi A6 2.8

Faults:

I just clunked my beautiful 2001 Audi A6 2.8. My friends and family are in disbelief while I feel only relief. The car looked great, but they didn't have to take it in for repairs or spend hours trying to figure out how to fix it for less.

I put 120,000 miles on it. I have replaced the gaskets twice in last 5 years, and it started dripping oil on the manifold again. The axles were replaced last year, but it still makes a clicking noise when turning from a stop sign.

The water leaks, the oil leaks, and the radiator fan clutch won't clutch.

On Monday the rear speakers quit so I took it in. I got $4500 from Uncle Sam and now drive a Sentra. It's a reliable ride, but I feel less of a man.

I have a 2001 Audi A6 Avant, too -- the AWD wagon -- and the exterior and interior leather are pristine. It's gorgeous. But this car is nickel and diming me to death! I can't get an inexpensive oil change, or even a headlight changed without a mechanic. I've spent more than my oldest child's college tuition on the front suspension -- twice -- in the last four years. I'm ready to trade. Sigh.

2001 Audi A6 2.7 T

Timing belt and water pump, $1500.

Outer CV boot, $320.

General Comments:

I love this car! It's very spendy to fix, but the car runs beautifully. It's comfortable and performs like a dream.

2001 Audi A6 2.7t 2.7 V6 turbo

7) Brake fluid flush 175.00.

8) Fuel induction service 245.00.

9) Coolant system flush 245.00.

General Comments:

This car is a dream to drive and a nightmare to maintain. This model year has a specific problem with the ZF transmission and premature seal failure. See the technical service bulletin 2010879/11 (32 MIL on, performance unaffected (DTC 17125/P0741) ). Never buy one of these cars used unless you have a 3 year end to end warranty. This problem is present from Audi 1999-2003 years, so if you buy buy after these years.

After all this they had the nerve to attach to my diagnostic bill ($125.00 for 17 minutes on the Audi diagnostic computer) for leasing a new AUDI YEAH RIGHT!!! Never ever going to get an Audi again, never.

I have taken excellent care of this car since day 1, only the best oil, authentic parts, never ragged on it, it's just poor Audi service and poor Audi design.

WOW!!! that's staggering. You're better off dumping the car and going with a used Honda. They are gorgeous cars but only for the very rich.

I remember looking into buying a used A4 sport wagon and checking how much new tires would cost, that was enough to put me off!

2001 Audi A6 2.8

Faults:

Good car except it clunks every time I come to a stop. They put a new transmission in it and a new transmission computer. It still clunks hard when coming to a stop. No one can figure it out.
