2001 Audi allroad quattro 2.7T

Summary:

Exciting to drive, Depressing for repairs

Faults:

Tie rod ends.

Exhaust sensors (4).

Torque converter.

Secondary exhaust fan.

Wiper fluid reservoir cracked and leaking.

Driver information electronic display fading.

Auto-leveling headlamps... $6700 estimate to fix everything wrong.

Just took the car in to get new tie rods, and found all these other issues.

General Comments:

So much fun to drive. Very confident in the snow. Accelerates quickly up the mountains. Feels safe at high speeds and in crappy weather.

Very comfortable, even had heated rear seats! I am going to fix the car and drive it for many more years. I just wish it wasn't so troublesome.

1996 Audi allroad quattro A4 V6

Summary:

Audi Quattro A4

Faults:

Nothing major has gone wrong. I have been blessed with a good car so far.

General Comments:

I have been very blessed with my 96 Audi A4 Quattro.

It just now rolled 66,000, and no major issues yet.

I have had no major problem with my car except for Temp. sensor and seal on the heater unit, which didn't cost that much.

I love driving this car! It is really sporty car. I would recommend this car to my friends.

2001 Audi allroad quattro 2.7

Summary:

Unreliable, costly, and time consuming

Faults:

Purchased car in Sept 2004 with less than 30,000 miles.

- Passenger seat auto adjustment broken. Had to ride in reclined position until it was fixed.

- Brakes engaged while starting car and lock. Had brake cylinder replaced.

- Brake issue re-occurs.

- Car shakes at speeds over 50 mph. Occurred three times for no apparent reason.

- Probably bad luck - but had tire blow out hitting a pot hole. First - front driver side. Then following month, front passenger side.

General Comments:

Owned car less than 1 year, and has been in for service 8 times!

I have a 3 year old Audi allroad. Certainly fun to drive, but the lack of reliability detracts from the product.

Radio failed in year one.

The electronic controller of the suspension system failed.

3 of the 4 air bag suspension units failed (very expensive)

Flat spot in the acceleration took multiple visits to the dealer to fix.

Excessive tyre wear has had all tyres replaced.

There does seem to be a pattern developing here...

2003 Audi allroad quattro 2.7bi turbo

Summary:

Does everything right including performance, style, and fantastic versatility

Faults:

One month after purchase the car spent 6 weeks at the dealer with a computer glitch. A loaner car was provided for the entire time. Three months in there was a transmission problem, and the car spent another two and a half weeks at the dealer again a loaner car was provided.

General Comments:

Those two problems aside, the car is wonderful to drive.

The 2.7l bi-turbo is fast, and responsive with handling like a sports car.

The look of the car makes it stand out without being offensive, and the interior is extremely tasteful.

I love that it can be purchased with a six speed manual transmission, a rare thing in luxury cars of this caliber.

2000 Audi allroad quattro A6 2.7T

Summary:

High performance, but poor reliability with many bugs yet to be fixed

Faults:

Both driver and passenger side windows needed the guides replaced.

The instrument panel become hard to read as the letters appeared to streak and darken at the edges.

The GPS stopped working after the dealer replaced the instrument package.

The sunroof guides broke.

The rear window shade started to bind and was replaced after the second complaint.

The fuel gage started acting intermittent and it was replaced.

The front bumper was destroyed while making a right turn onto a street with an average size dip.

The windshield wiper washer fluid hose came off and drained all the fluid from the tank.

My AM band on the radio went dead.

My windshield wipers sometimes won't start unless I put switch to full speed.

The check engine light has come on numerous times and each time I am given some nondescript reason which always includes the phrase "and we reset a bunch of codes".

Need to replace Oxygen sensors just after 3 years.

The climate control fan (s) have developed an intermittent chirp sound at some combination of rotation speed and temperature.

The transmission occasionally appears to slip and then engage with a hard thump.

General Comments:

The car is fun to drive when it's not at the Audi dealer.

Can't get a diesel Allroad in North America, or a Diesel Audi for that matter.

The only new models that are offered in diesel are the VW Rabbit, and Jetta, the only other diesel options are 3/4 and 1 ton American Pick up Trucks. Soon Ford will be releasing a Land Rover inspired Diesel engine in the F150 (1/2 ton) and diesel is no cheaper than gasoline here, and in most cases is more expensive, but it does still yield better fuel economy.

Sorry you had such bad luck with your allroad. Question though; you're say it is allroad 2000 model year, but they did not start selling allroads in the USA till 2001.

If it breaks or doesn't function properly, on a regular basis, it is a VW or Audi, German Engineered product. They have been working on the same issues for 20 + years and still haven't managed to fix them.
