1991 BMW 3 Series 318is 1.8

Summary:

Great car with performance to match!

Faults:

Picked up Car in San Diego California. Air Bleed Screw in top of radiator was twisted too far and cracked radiator. Had leak of coolant from top of radiator. (This is a common problem I was told By BMW Mechanic) Still drove car 365 miles home to Las Vegas, Nevada With No other Problems. Replaced radiator myself for 179.00. Only took 20 min. Always loved German Engineering. Minor other things replaced such as Defroster switch, Power antenna Mast, and one hub cap.

General Comments:

I Love the Feel of this car!!!

Handles Like a sports car should.

I have finally found a car that is FUN to drive. Now I know why the BMW Shirts say "Take the Long way Home"

Car is excellent stock, But I have ordered Short Throw Shifter/ Cold air Intake/ Performance Chip/ and a set of Performance Coil Springs. It should be Really Fun to drive then.

Great Fuel Economy. 30 Plus MPG on way back to Vegas. (Note: It was all freeway driving)

Car Loves the freeway speeds. Ran smooth into the triple digits across the Mojave Desert.

1991 BMW 3 Series 325ix 2.5 L6

Summary:

One incredible car!

Faults:

The air intake hose needs to be replaced, the radio antennae is broken in half, and the key doesn't work in the driver's door lock.

General Comments:

This is absolutely amazing! Not only is this car super reliable, it's also pretty quick and really nimble. It's on rails through even the sharpest corners. I have to try pretty hard to get this thing to even squeal the tires around a corner, and even then, it's incredibly difficult. This is an amazing car!

1991 BMW 3 Series 318i 1.8L 4 Cylinder / Gas

Summary:

The best sports car for under $30,000

Faults:

Power steering rack has leaked since I purchased the car.

The bushings in the lower control arms have gone bad requiring the replacement of the entire arm.

General Comments:

This is probably the best purchase that I have ever made. I made the purchase from a friend about a year ago and I will own a BMW the rest of my life. This car has made a serious impression on me.

The first thing I noticed was the cars ability to handle. I had purchased the car that day and needed to run some errands. I took the back roads because the interstates were a mess. As I was driving down a local road I came upon a sudden turn that I had forgotten about. I stood on the brakes and turned the wheel as quickly as I could thinking that there was no escaping disaster. In a flash the car responded flawlessly. Taking me into the turn that had a warning sign of 25 m.p.h. at nearly 65 m.p.h.! I was stunned and a little shaken up so I decided to stop for a moment. I got out looked around and then decided to do it again.

Since then I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance taking down the back roads any chance I get.

Thank you BMW for creating such an inexpensive and fun to drive car!

Serious, the E30 3-Series was the best one made in my opinion. You can throw it into turns and it'll just go *boof* right into the turn.

Remarkable cars, no?

Agree that the handling of this car is truly amazing. Mine is a '91 318i. It never lets me down on a curvy road. I'm out of town on business now in New Hampshire in a rental car, a 2008 Dodge. Man do I miss my little 3 on these twisty NH back roads! Amazing that a 91 car can hands-down out handle the new cars of today.

I love my BMW 318is! Fun, sporty and great on gas! Although my heater fan just stopped working. I have checked the fuses and they are fine. Suggestions??

Maybe it was $30,000 when it was new. $3000 sounds about right for a used model though.
