1987 Buick LeSabre 3.8 V6
Summary:
Reliable and forgiving workhorse with good performance
Faults:
Rear Stabilizer bar broke mount in left rear.
Air conditioner has lost freon.
Heater does not work well, coolant restriction to heater core.
Digital dash has faded on lower left side, unable to read fuel gage in sunlight.
Seatbelt recoil spring jammed on driver side.
Rear brake lines rusted out at about 360,000 km.
General Comments:
This car has taken horrendous abuse by my hard driving, but has never stranded me or failed to start.
Suspension and brake components are extremely worn, but all original at over 370,000 km.
Engine has gotten weaker and transmission is just starting to slip a bit. Otherwise the drive-train is bulletproof.
Still able to accelerate to highway speed with a minimum of effort. Can reach 160 km/h and cruise comfortably at 125 km/h for long trips.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I own an '87 Lesabre T-type myself, and I love it. So far I've replaced the Starter, cooling fan motor, fuel injectors, blower motor, alternator, and I need to replace the head liner; it is currently taken completely out of the car. The transmission is starting to slip, but what can you expect from a car with 147000 miles on it. My lesabre is a champ and I'm not throwing it away for anything. I need to get a hold of a rear spoiler though. I recieved the car when I turned 16, about 2 years ago. My goal is to put a new 3800 series II in it. Though it's given me so much hassle with fixing it, I still love everything about it.
