Faults:

A bunch of clear coat chips on the hood due to highway driving (85 yr. old man previously drove this vehicle, so he probably drove behind a lot of semi trucks on the highway).

General Comments:

This car is a steal!!! Was driven by a 85 yr. old man (as stated above)...bought it at the dealer at almost 60,000 miles for $6,000. Crazy because the car is 10 years old!!! Awesome deal and car is in mint condition (except the hood). Has all the bells and whistles (power everything/climate adjust/trunk motor, etc.) as the new Park Avenues (96 - present) for a fraction of the price!!! Being a college student I have raced just about every type of car and have beaten them off the line with the "ever tough" supercharged 3.8...well except for the newer 3.8 series 2 supercharged engines and cars with a 5.7 liter (trans am, corvette, etc.). Car is a TRUE "sleeper" as it blows through traffic and crushes most cars on the highway...ahhhh, god bless the supercharger!

Car is like a Lazy Boy on wheels!!! Rides like a dream with the leather interior and climate/radio controls on the steering wheel. Buick's rock!!!

Faults:

The supercharger bearings went. I found a company in California "Magnuson Products Inc" www.magnusonproducts.com (805-642-8833) that is an authorized rebuilder of Eaton Super chargers. They sell the front half bearing assembly for around $350.00. This is typically the part that goes bad. I bought the whole rebuilt super charger $1100.00. The technical staff @ Magnuson were great in answering all my questions, and told me to call back if I had more. I had never messed with fuel injector & super chargers before. The job was a breeze.

30 minutes to remove the supercharger, & about a little over an hour to reinstall. The reinstall took longer because I replaced valve cover gaskets, fuel injector o-rings, thermostat & gaskets, and a bypass hose for the water pump. So if you have this problem, you have another choice besides the dealer.

Faults:

Electrical problems at 150,000 km. Not serious but expensive. Door lock failed, security light stays on, and starter wiring problem all hit at same time $700-$800 cdn. to fix. Only thing to have gone wrong. Have owned two.

General Comments:

Bought second Park after bad accident with first. Totaled first one - front and back gone. Inside, you would not know we had been hit. Still ran except for metal on wheel. Minimal injuries. Bought second same year but ultra. Served us well. Will be buying our third one Feb. 99.
