1987 Buick Regal Limited Chevy 350 Engine

Summary:

American muscle all the way!!!

Faults:

Water pump.

Alternator.

Exhaust gasket.

Belts.

Cluster.

Headliner.

Bumper fillers.

General Comments:

This car is great. I get a lot of power out of the 350 engine.

I will say that it's far from being finished in my eyes. Everything is stock on it right now (Gold interior and exterior), but I'm going to be painting the car all black, putting red pin stripes on it and redoing the interior to a dark purple. This is going to be my 2009 summer project.

I have found another 1987 Buick Regal for cheap, which I will be parting out the interior, body parts, engine parts etc.

1987 Buick Regal coupe 3.8 non-turbo

Summary:

Classy or muscle it's a great car

Faults:

Tranny went @90K other than that I voluntarily rebuilt the motor because the water pump was leaking .

General Comments:

Its not adaily driver anymore since I slowly wanted to rebuild it because I had the time and the money.I now put about 300 miles a year on it driving it on weekends occasionally. i will never get rid of this car.

1987 Buick Regal T Type 307

Summary:

A ghetto-sled exterior with copious room and refinement inside.

Faults:

I just replaced the transmission.

The heater core and water pump went bad about two years ago.

The door strips came off.

There is a mystery "service engine soon" light that no one can diagnose.

The driver's side seat and door are worn because of use.

General Comments:

The T tops still don't leak, but because the driver door sags a bit water comes in the driver's window.

This car looks good and handles well.

It was well worth the money I paid for it.

I don't like that there are gages in the vehicle, just dummy lights.

Overall this is has been a really good car.

1987 Buick Regal Turbo T 3.8L SFI turbo

Summary:

Smooth Power,

Faults:

Recall on brake booster accumulator.

Recall on computer chip.

Transmission started going about 50,000 miles.

Alternator went at about 75,000 miles, found out dealer was cheaper than Midas!

General Comments:

I modified the car of course like any other enthusiast!

When the transmission went, Quarter mile Performance in NJ (Jim De Alessandro) did a great job on building it. Chirped all gears when nailed.

All the usual bolt-on mods including injectors, front mount intercooler, Art Carr 9" NON-lock converter, stock 3.42 gears, BF Goodrich 275/60R15s which lowered the gears to about 3.20's. I got 26 MPG highway and ran 12.91 in quarter with 18 pounds boost with 94 octane. Car weighed 3680 with me in it. Drive home with air conditioning and power windows! Just think what it could do with slicks and race gas! Stock engine block, heads, etc... very reliable.

If you're looking for a smooth ride with smooth power, great gas mileage, and ability to hop in and drive the Hot Rod power tour without fear, you want a Turbo Regal/Grand National.

The best part is that it is easy to work on. Just about any backyard mechanic can work on it.

1987 Buick Regal Limited 305cu V8

Summary:

Great power for your dollar

Faults:

Alternator went.

Starter exploded.

Basic maintenance.

Tires.

Muffler.

Broken exhaust manifold that requires a new motor to fix.

Some surface rust has begun to appear, but otherwise body I in great shape.

The interior has a few cracks in the dash, but it has held up very well.

General Comments:

This car handle like its on rails.

Has very large amounts of power, hence it can spin the tires very well.

Interior has plenty of room to fit lots of people, or just two.

The best car I could ever own without paying through the nose for it.

1987 Buick Regal Grand National 3.8

Summary:

One of the greatest cars ever built!!!

Faults:

Typical engine rear main seal oil leak.

Transmission needed to be rebuilt at 57,000 miles.

Headliner of course was sagging.

Engine lifters seemed to be making a "tappet" noise.

General Comments:

Even with all the problems this car is known for and has had with me, this is by far the most pleasurable to drive.

Plenty of room interior.

Prices seem to be very expensive to replace parts when they go bad.
