Water pump at 86,000.

R/head light at 89,000.

Serpentine belt at 90,000.

New tires at 28,000.

New tires at 65,000.

New tires at 92,000.

New fuel filter at 92,000.

General Comments:

This car has spent its life going back and forth to work 1996-2006 and many trips to the Oregon coast and Reno Nevada. Always reliable!

If any of you know of a 1988 Buick Custom FOUR SEATER (factory bucket seats in rear w/console) or know anything about them? Please e-mail me as I would like to know if this is a car I should put away as it is in near showroom condition (other than miles. We purchased it in 1996. It has the perfect original fog lights with covers, and the entire car is original including the wheels and floor mats. Electronic dash works perfect! A/C is ice cold.

Faults:

Hood latch disengaged while driving and broke the windshield.

Exhaust pipe hanger broke a few times at the tailpipe.

General Comments:

This is the best car I have ever had. It requires a little extra maintenance, but what you give, you get back.

It's extremely reliable, and is very cost efficient (for its age).

Excellent handing and superior comfort.

Great acceleration and fast speed.

Highly recommended for the new driver or the daily commuter. Great for almost anything to be honest.

Faults:

This Regal was first purchased from the Dealer by my Grandparents. Then, some time later it was purchased by my Dad. Now I own this vehicle and I can see how it has lasted our family 3 generations!

I'm not sure about any of this vehicle's repairs prior to 2003. I can admit my grandfather maintained this car very well, my dad maintained the car as much as possible and kept it running for over a decade, and now I maintain it as much as I can afford to. So far, it has not cost much to keep it on the road!

Odometer started acting crazy at stop lights and would tag on an additional 1,000-5,000 miles in a few seconds for no apparent reason.. About a month after that began the odometer has never worked again. (~130K/2002)

Interior Replaced.

Engine Belt was replaced. (Snapped at an intersection and left me stranded.)

Fuel Pump was replaced. (Acceleration problems and stalling with no other reason)

Fuel Filter was replaced.

Gas gauge no longer works at all. (Stupid guy who replaced Fuel Pump forgot to realign the gas gauge.)

Electrical wiring loose/worn under the dash/steering column currently, but still works OK unless tampered with or the door slams too hard.

A/C gets cooler than outside, but not if the temperature outside is 90+F.

Spark Plugs & Wires replaced. (<Yearly)

Air Filter Replaced. (<Yearly)

Oil Changes Regularly.

General Comments:

This 1988 Buick Regal Custom was a wise choice for reliability for our family.

I have spent about as much money as I paid for the vehicle and could not ask for a better return. (~$800)

The interior and digital dashboard is a modern twist from any vehicle from the late 80's.

Seats are pretty comfortable for light to medium distance trips, even for a 6' adult.

This vehicle is very good on fuel consumption overall.

Parts for this vehicle are relatively easy to come across.

Just add Oil and Gas and this car could get me just about anywhere at 40MPH steady. =)
