Faults:

Rear end differential noises.

Other than that, a very comfortable ride, but will never buy one again... only paid $2000, so will get my money back when I sell it this year or trade up.

Faults:

Like many have reported, the front wheel bearings both had to be replaced. GM had issued a bulletin stating that the Rendezvous had inferior wheel bearings, and would replace them as long as the vehicle was under 60,000 miles. On mine, BOTH became problematic at 62,000 miles. Dealer would not lift a finger, had to replace them myself.

The rear end became really noisy at about 80,000 miles. Read on the Internet that this was also a common problem. Dealer wanted $1500 to fix it. I found out that the "fix" was to simply change the rear differential oil and drive it for about 300-400 miles - the groaning sound went away. The VersaTrack fluid that they recommend is like $80 per PINT, and it takes 8 pints to refill. Talked to my mechanic friend and I replaced it with a different gear oil for $12 a quart. Problem resolved for $25 and 30 minutes of my time vs. the $1500 the dealer quoted.

Rear tailgate strap has broken 3 times - $60 per replacement. Left it off after the 3rd time - they don't even last a year intact.

Speedometer started intermittently not functioning at about 70,000 miles. Problem became more frequent, had to replace the instrument cluster - $500.

My garage door spring broke, door came down on the third brake light and broke it. Dealer wants $450 for the simple little LED light bar... smoking crack they are - I took it completely off.

The rear hatch pressure pad became corroded and ceased working at about 50,000 miles. Was able to fix myself by rewiring to the 3rd unused contact in the switch. Dealer wanted $250 for the 3 square inch rubber button...

Have replaced the rear wiper arm 5 times at least - spring sucks, and it fails to wipe the window. $80 each.

Gas mileage far below what is stated.

The AC / Heater blower motor is anemic - it's highest speed pushes far less air than my Expedition on low...

General Comments:

Car drives incredibly well in the snow.

Pretty comfortable ride.

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with this car, until just this last 2 weeks. I hear a vibration coming from the front drivers side wheel when I make a right turn. I'm thinking it might be the CV joints.

General Comments:

We bought this SUV used from a dealer, and have been very pleased with it. In fact, it has been extremely reliable, comfortable, smooth riding and just a pleasure to own.

We are happy with the removable seats in the second row, because we have taken it camping, and can pack it very full with all our tents and camping gear.

The sound system is very good, better than I expected.

The AC and heat work great. The seats are soft and comfortable.

Faults:

At 58,000 miles it is going to get its 3rd SET of front bearings. Very loud growling and grinding when at a highway speed, and when the outside temperatures are warm to hot.

I have researched and found this is MORE than just a common problem, and at $500 to $600, it's expensive to replace this often.

Faults:

The only thing that's gone wrong were a wheel bearing and a speed sensor, both replaced under GM warranty. Other than that, just normal wear and tear like brakes and tires.

The car does make the strangest sound like a dying whale every now and then when at rest, and no one knows the problem, but it has done it since I bought it, and hasn't caused any issues.

General Comments:

The car is great. I have the FWD version and it has gotten me through 2 New England winters, and I've put 55k on it (that's round the earth twice people).

Everyone on this site puts the car down, but where else are you gonna find a 7 passenger SUV that gets 25mpg hwy and 17 city, it's great.

Some of the interior could have been designed better, but it's the best used American car I've owned. Hope it lasts me to 200k.

Oh, and even with a small 3.4 in a SUV that big, you can still roast the tires. My only complaints are handling over 60, and the governor kicks in at 110 (guess a Rendezvous shouldn't go that fast in the first place) and it's a lo pro vehicle; I've never been pulled over in it, cops probably think it's an old lady driving, so it's good if you speed a lil.
