1984 Buick Skylark Limited Sedan 2.5 4-cylinder fuel injection

Summary:

Old and Slow, but cheap to run, reliable, and PAID FOR!

Faults:

A/C very weak and needs a recharge.

Fuel Gauge reads incorrectly, reads too low and won't go to "F" after a fill-up. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Repalced water pump a year ago.

Haven't had many problems with this car.

Paint is starting to fade on hood, trunk, and roof.

Replaced clutch 2 years ago.

Will need exhaust work soon.

General Comments:

For $1000 I know I got my money's worth. The noisy old 4-banger never fails to start. Tires are cheap, insurance is cheap, parts aren't too bad if I need them. I use cheap oil and 87 octane gas and get anywhewre from 25 to 35 MPG, not bad for a 23 year old hooptie. The car rides very smooth and handles and corners well. I would not be afraid to drive it cross country.

1984 Buick Skylark 2.8L V6

Summary:

Little Pimpin' Car

Faults:

Nothing that is not routine maintenance, like alternator makes a grinding noise...

Brake line wasn't connected when I bought the car.. very dangerous!!!

Need to replace the alternator/water pump/timing belts.

Seats are starting to rip, but again its 20 years old what do you expect..

There is a short in the a/c, radio, clock wires. just don't care to fix it.

General Comments:

This is my 3rd car, but the first one that has been legally driven (insured)

So I guess you could say its really my "first" car..

It is fairly quick, but nothing to brag about.. Really roomy and comfortable..

Don't have any complaints about it at all.. I would definately buy another one if I had the chance.

Haven't seen any others around very scarce in Ontario.. so its something I can say is unique!!!

You drove 2 uninsured cars? Eeeevil! Ha! I had an 85 Skylark that I had hauled off to the junkyard about 4 months ago. I hated like hell to see it go. The body was in really nice shape for a 20 year old car, the engine still ran good and even the transmission still worked almost like new. The interior was all ripped to hell, and the high pressure hose off the power steering pump ruptured, but other than that, it was still a good car! It would get almost 30 mpg on the highway cruising at 65 mph. The suspension and front end parts were still all good too. I tried for a month to sell the car, I advertised it on many different places and I had only one person call and it turned out they didn't want it, and I couldn't keep the car in my yard any longer so I painfully had to have it towed away to the junkyard. It only had 174000 kilometers on the odometer too! I sure miss that car. I saw it as the end of an era when the Skylark rode away on the back of the towtruck. I've seen 3 other X body Skylarks around lately so I know some people have respect for these cars and that makes me feel better. I miss the ol beast.

Summary:

Good reliable transportation

Faults:

Fuel line was leaking when purchased.

Paint on the hood is fading.

Squeals when turning the steering wheel at low speed.

General Comments:

Bought the car from an auction with 41000 original miles for $700.00 dollars. Looks like Grandpas car and was obviously garage kept.

No dash cracks. No rust, even underneath the car. Seats are in excellent condition.

Engine runs strong and transmission shifts smooth.

Gets me back and forth to work each day, what more can I ask of an 84 Skylark!
