1991 Cadillac Allante Base 405
Summary:
I really like this car; it looks great and runs well
Faults:
Heater core blew under pressure, and leaked coolant all inside the passenger side floor and mat, and it pooled; a mess to clean up, no warning on it going. $590.00 to replace the heater core, and to flush and replace the coolant. Fortunately I was alone when this happened; with hot steam and coolant coming into the passenger side, someone might have gotten burned.
Other than that, the car has performed really well. I also had the brake system flushed as well, and found the fluid was quite dirty, so that was a good thing to do. I will be getting the transmission flushed as soon as the snow goes away.
I am the 3rd owner, and I do not think the last owner changed fluids very often, but did not abuse the car in any way; it still looks great. Other than the fluids, the car was in great shape. It has a new top and the interior was 7 out of 10.
General Comments:
It's a head turner here in Toronto Canada; most people have never seen one, even though it's a 1991; only 5 were sold in Canada in 1991. A base white model with burgundy interior and black roof.
We really enjoy it with the top down, and the radio or CD player going on my rock & roll oldies.
It has lot of power, and the sound from the engine or tail pipe is great.
I plan to keep the car a few years. I store it inside with a cover over the winter, and run it 1/2 an hour every two weeks.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
